Thanks everyone! Luckygal, the paint color is Ellen Kennon Sage. I really, really like it. Glad you do too;) We do have a smaller dining room off the front living room, but have considered a table, as lavendar suggested, near the doors.... maybe doubling as a game, project, bigger dining when needed table. We don't actually have that table though - lol. The room might make more sense with it. Jan, I always appreciate your thoughts! I will think about moving some of the other chairs. My hesitation is that the front living room is really our friends and family gathering room, so I was wanting to keep the softer chairs in there. So far, my little family has not used this back room much and I'm hoping to make it more useful. Of course, for a good bit of time it was the box room! Oh, let's see, lavendar, the desk is kind of orangey. I don't want to paint it because it was my grandmothers. I may just need to find another place for it. The hutch could stand painting. My husband and I found it in the trash our first married year and painted it as is:) Funny memories. Hoping I answered everyone's thoughtful replies... Here is just one example. This is the lazy boy Duo Ryder reclining sofa. Clean lines. Back remains straight when you recline. So, it is a wall-hugger or incliner. Keep in mind, for this particular one, it does not recline fully. Slight recline and foot rest rises. Other models I mentioned have a much greater recline. Depends on your budget, style, and what you want functionally in a recliner. Many now have usb ports in the recline button. You can see it one the side of the chair below. Also, consider a battery pack. Finally, some have an articulating headrest. The Duo Ryder does not, as it does not recline much. The articulating head rest allows your head to be pushed forward to view tv/read (when you are reclined). Do your research. As others have mentioned, be cautious about sectionals. No one wants to sit in the corner. Adults who aren't couples prefer an individual seat. Finally, unless you buy a modular sectional, you are committed to that arrangement for the life of the sectional. They are for some people, but not for all. Here is a floor plan for you. With the base heaters, you will have to float furniture. I recommend a reclining sofa and 2 chairs like this. This is a to-scale 10 x 19 room. Not sure of opening and window measurements, but they are approximate. Let me know if I can help any further.

A "natural" focal point is most often architectural—fireplace, picture window/french doors, vaulted ceiling—that catches your attention. A wall with paneling, wallpaper or a contrasting paint color is a focal point. A grouping of photos, artwork, a bold rug, even the TV can be a focal point. A room doesn't need to have just one; however, more that three focal points can be visual clutter. Your room's natural focal point is the picture window. You could further define the focal point with a tree or plant that fills the space like THIS. Regardless of whether there is an obvious focal point, I like to repeat color across the room. Do you have favorite artwork? Try to find drapes, throw pillows and a rug that repeats the main color(s). Is there a prominent color in a room visible from this one? Repeat that color in this room. Here is a Houzz Article on this subject. While furniture is often placed to focus on a focal point, it doesn't have to be. It makes no sense to face all the furniture towards the picture window if you are also putting a TV in the room. For comfort's sake you set furniture so the TV is easily viewed while sitting.

The room is approximately 16x 20.5, with a 12 foot opening to the kitchen as shown in the photo. Windows are south facing. And the fireplace can be seen from the foyer entry. The furniture was all left to us from the previous owners. We are open to painting or replacing it, as well as painting the walls and carpet to brighten the space. Thank you again for any input!
