Nat, I don't mean to throw a monkey wrench into your list but I took out Ducher because I could not keep black spot off of it. Thrips loved it and so did the Japanese beetles. It was an underperformer for me, here in Atlanta. Others love it, so thatÂs just my experience. Gruss An Aachen is a great rose but he needs to be sprayed here if you want him to look good--if not, you're going to see a lot more cane. BUT, he does respond well to occasional spraying and he does bloom even when I let him get spotty. BelindaÂs Dream is also nice but does better with some spray. BTW, her blooms are much larger and more impressive in the cooler weather of the spring and fall. Of the ones youÂve listed, Marie Daly is the most disease resistant and has the most continual bloom. The fragrance also carries on the breezeÂwhich I really like. SdLM is another great rose. Mine does get some BS but with a little shot of anti-fungal spray every now and then, she does well. The blooms are beautiful and smell great. Neither SdLM or MD are very large, thoughÂboth maybe 3.5 to 4 feet tall and wide. What about Duchesse de Brabant? SheÂs on JeanÂs list that you mentioned and she made the Earthkind list in Texas. She has beautiful pink blooms that smell like raspberries to me. Mine is taller than wide but I've heard others report that their DdB are larger. I just went out and would call mine "lightly thorny". Thanks roseberri. I played it safe and planted New Dawn and Zephirine Drouhin on my large arbor out back(south side). I expect New Dawn to take off...not sure how quickly Zephirine will go, but it is a fairly large rose already and I didn't have much of a choice as it goes right by the walkway now that I have them both in the ground and can see how they sit. Both are blooming and doing fine though. Red and White Eden are still in pots. Regular Eden was sold out at the nursery. I feel like Red and White Eden are somewhat of a risk being relatively new plants(circa 2004) and hearing less about them, but I'll be quite happy if it works out. The spot I am putting them in is on the north side of the house, but far enough in front of the house that Red and White Eden will probably get more sun than any rose I currently have planted. You mentioned Eden would work for smaller settings, so I am only building a small 4'wide x 7'tall simple arbor for out front(haha just to make room for them). Something simple and just to walk through although with such a small yard it will probably become a focal point. If you are familar with Victorian Village in Columbus roseberri, then you can grasp the size of my small area. I'll have to keep everybody updated on how Red and White Eden do as Red isn't even an "Eden" genetically, and I believe White is a sibling of Eden. Both relatively new and I might wrap the whole arbor and roses with burlap this winter. Hard saying right now. I just want the arbor thrown up and the roses in the ground already! Can't wait.

Hi Lin, the glossy foliage, heps and leaf size are appropriate for a wichurana...but I really can't think of a single apart from the species...or it's close relative, e.luciae. The single ramblers, Seagull and Wedding Day are both of a similar size (although the corymbs do not look dense enough....as is r.longicuspis or r.sinowilsonii. Could do with knowing it's bloom time (the wichuranas are almost as late as the moschatas), how long it keeps it's foliage (some are almost evergreen), whether their is fragrance. how flexible are the canes (along with arvensis, wichurana does throw quite long, flexible canes.). Ask away on ARF...but expect some heated dialogue, as reaching a clear ID on some of these wilder type roses can be tricksy.

Lala - the pink rose you circled in the pic is 'Climbing American Beauty' (which is a seedling, NOT a sport of 'American Beauty', and not related to 'Miss American Beauty'. Cl American Beauty (1909) is once blooming, but it blooms very prolifically for a month or so, and then there is scattered bloom for more months on new growth. HMF says it is hardy to zone 5, as it is a Wichurana hybrid. Vaporvac - in Elaine's first pic, the purple rose is Kim Rupert's 'Lauren', and the peach colored rose is Peach Drift (this one is a tree rose which Lauren is eating!). In her second pic, the rose is Korde's 'Summer Wine' (NOT the same rose as 'Summerwine'). Jackie
