Paint in room with tons of natural light.
Comments (1)Tons of natural light usually makes things easier. But just because there is a lot of light that doesn't necessarily guarantee that it's balanced. Meaning a nice mix of color wavelengths in the whole full spectrum of visible light. Odd that they all look purple. Wondering if it's context. In other words, what are you sampling *on* and could the surrounding background color influence how you're seeing the new colors. Every paint color belongs to a hue family. Whites, grays, blacks - all of them belong to a hue family. To arrive at the "right" paint color, I start with the color of the permanent elements in the room. The floor is first, then cabinets (if there are any, then the known contents of the room like upholstered items, window treatments. A color scheme is about color relationships. Determine what the existing hue families are in the space and use that framework to guide you to the hue families for paint colors. Here's a photo of the Munsell Color Tree. You can see the yellow hue family the best. It's a good example that shows how every hue family will have a range of whites, grays blacks. Comments (5)Here are a couple of photos! I think the best way to describe it was a really great balance between a gray and a beige. I really loved it and may use it again in my new home. I tried to pick pictures that showed the color looking a little different depending on the light. In the room with the lamp, the lamp is throwing up some yellow but the paint does not cast yellow. I hope this helps!...See MoreNeutral/Warm paint color options for room with no natural light
Comments (9)2700K is very dim for a kitchen, and very yellow. You're asking for help on paint that won't make the room gloomy and dark but you don't realize that bulbs that are 2700K are gloomy and dark. (for a kitchen) I have already installed the 2700k recessed lights so unfortunately I won't be able to update those. Why not? You do know recessed bulbs can be changed, yes? just switch them out for the 4000. you'll be amazed at how much better your work area is to see and how much brighter your paint colors will appear. (you can buy a pack of bulbs that fit your recessed cans at Costco for cheap)...See MoreRed Oak, Dark Stain, Low Natural Light. Semi-Gloss on hardwood?
Comments (7)Semigloss will reflect light more than satin, but if there’s no light to reflect that won’t help you. It may also accentuate any defects in the floor. If electrical upgrades aren’t an option can you bring in more lamps? Even with overhead lighting, lamps improve the ambiance significantly. Lighter paint also reflects light, but again you must have light to reflect. Whites really need natural light to look good in my opinion, otherwise they accentuate shadows and make the room feel dingy....See MoreBeth H. :
