Design Dilemma Kitchens Storage & Closet

Venetian Bronze or Matte Black

New construction question: we are trying to pick out a kitchen faucet (seriously, so many options!!!) and trying to decide between Venetian bronze or matte black. Cabinets are java colored, white marble granite counter tops and we did oil rubbed bronze pendents above island (where sink is). Will also do dark sink. Will VB be too brown?? I’m afraid it will look too brown, but afraid black just won’t really match. ANyone have thoughts or have either color in real life?

Too much darkness. What are appliances? I see no reason for a dark sink in white marble.

Appliances are black stainless. It’s an open floor concept with three huge picture windows on west wall, as well as a sliding glass and dining room window all in the area too. White trim, Anew gray walls.

I’m afraid a brushed nickel would be out of place?

tkbalt, Thank you SO much for posting. I saw your sink and thought it may have been the matte. So far it has been durable and easy to take care of? The price was killer and I'm sure we could have done better, but we just wanted to get it ordered ASAP. We started this process in MAY and it took until last week for the one cabinet we ordered to get here and installed.

Rubber oil bronze is a bit more traditional (with hints of real metal coming through) while flat black is more contemporary. Either could look striking given the description of dark oak and black countrrtops it really becomes a preference. The key decision in my mind would be, what are the switches and light fixtures (in that particular room specifically) ? if your house has an open floorplan its also OK to do "zone" design meaning whats in the kitchen can have a contrasted finish from the livingroom. a side note if going with lots of dark both in fixtures and cabinets (and/or appliances and sink) be sure to bring in light for contrast, either with lots of daylight (windows), flooring, upholstery or in the adjacent space so the eye can flow or pop. Having multiple shades and texture of the same family can be beautiful but too mucb of a good thing can make it overwhelming. best of luck.

I agree with others as I wouldn't change the faucet since the rest of the hardware would need to be changed as well. The faucet you have now goes well with the rest of the hardware choices. I would think that changing the paint color or even wallpapering, artwork - adding colorful towels - anything to add some color to the room which seems completely washed out with the pale green and beige.

I am a little surprised to hear about the water spots. I assumed otherwise (like a black car or black granite, but I guess those surfaces are shiny). Nice to hear that's not a concern. A polished faucet was out for me for that reason, and we don't have any other polished silver in the kitchen. I am still undecided about whether we should do a stainless or a black finish. Stainless will blend into the counters (white/grey granite) and the black will definitely stand out. The faucet will be front and center in the island, not tucked away under a window. There will be an air switch and a soap dispenser (also in black). The chicken in me says go stainless and it will blend in more...but I do love the look of the black. Kitchen hardware and door hardware throughout the house will be black. Those with black faucets, do you have black sinks, or stainless/something else? It's ok to mix, right? Stainless sinks are here and not easily returnable. I think we are set on returning the Kohler faucet, but now I'm not sure if we'll get the Delta in black or stainless. Leaning towards the Trinsic (#1 or #2), but the Essa (#3 or #4) might be easier to wipe down.

Darker yet. And cabinet hardware is then what? I think black stainless is a far less "forever" choice than stainless. Ditto a dark sink and faucet midst the bright marble.. A kitchen benefits from some gleam, no matter how rustic in intent, or richly /formally dark in intent. JMHO.

Also despite how naturally light it may be.

Why a dark sink in a white counter , I would always do regular stainless instead of a color that probably will not be available just about the time the fridge dies.Same with other metal finishes IMO a stainless sink and stainless appliances and stainless faucet and cabinet pulls would have been my choices.Keep things simple ..

No hardware picked out yet. I can go stainless faucets and sink as well, I don’t think it will be out of place if went with brushed nickel hardware. Can’t really change the appliances as they are already here. Thanks!
