Uncke Lans powder really scares away the animals
Comments (4)It ought to work on all mammals (the only class of animals capsaicin affects). The real question is whether the animals will be persistent enough to develop resistance to capsaicin. Not too terribly likely since they have no control over the concentration they encounter, but possible. Ryan...See MoreOK, what just scared the crap out of me!!????
Comments (36)Wow this is an old thread! Well, I do believe it was a fisher cat. We have them here now and several of them too! I had seen one squashed in the road a few weeks back. They are quite mean critters. Since I started this thread years ago there was a woman who was running/ walking her dog in Ct. At black pond. Which is maybe 10 to 15 minutes from my house, anyway she and her dog were attacked my a juvenile mountain lion. I hear she and her dog survived but I do not know the full story. Also since then I had been doing some reading up on mountain lions. And also since then I have had two rescued wimpy but wonderful greyhounds. One night while I was taking them out for their final nightly "run" up in the woods to do their business, they both stopped dead in their tracks. I had an enclosure put together up in the woods with several metal fence in a roll type deal and a gate with latest h that we installed. The dogs stopped dead and was staring up towards the back of the enclosure. I tool my spotlight and started looking around. About 50 feet on the other side of the fence in the back were red and green shining eyes. A tan head and chest. It moved sideways , turning it's body and it was without a doubt a mountain lion! Needless to say I yelled for the dogs to go to the house and we ran and went inside. It didn't seem to follow us. Thankfully. But my town is filled with wildlife , I've seen everything but moose in town. We all have to learn to coexhist. Ciao all! Is there a way to delete this thread?...See MoreFlower species that deter squirrels.
Comments (7)Below is the quote and source of the original place I read about them deterring squirrels. Marigolds as Repellants Specific varieties of marigolds are reported to repel destructive pests like nematodes and Mexican bean beetles, but marigolds alone should never be relied upon to protect gardens from pests. Some of the most fragrant marigolds deter deer and rabbits, but only if they have other suitable forage. Birds, on the other hand, do not have as well developed olfactory organs and are not often discouraged by even heavily scented marigolds; grackles are especially bad about picking them apart. Since marigolds are attractive hosts for tasty snacks like caterpillars, a range of animals may temporarily overcome their dislike for these flowers. Comments (15)Grace Yu How about a sign that reads: GODS HANDY WORK or A GARDEN FOR GOD and HE IS WATCHING YOU! or DID YOUR MOTHER TEACH YOU TO STEAL? If the signs don’t work then put down a pan, sunk into the soil, filled with axial grease that they can step in. Not too deep as you want them to not notice that they have stepped in something. Can you imagine them getting into their car (if they have one) and then walking around in their house with shoes loaded with grease? AND then having to remove the grease…. have fun…. You can remove the pan each morning. Another one along the same lines is a small fake bush that you sit in the path such that no matter which side of it they go around their legs brush against the outer limbs…..that are loaded with axial grease. To remove just grab the center top branch and sit the whole thing into a 5 gal pail….. are we having fun yet???? lol...See MoreKevin Reilly
