The All Important Question About Clover
Comments (1)It's my understanding that the N production is limited to the individual clover plant's benefit. However, as with grass, the cuttings from the clover will release/add N to the soil as they decompose. dchall often cites a person who added clover to their low maintenance lawn evidently for this purpose....See MoreAnother very important question for John
Comments (4)I think your tree will be fine during your absence; maybe lower the temp a little, but not more than 5 degrees. The misting is not so important except for controlling dust which mites love. I can't tell the size of your dead branch; but it looks pretty small. Branches that size most often die back from getting too dry, or too hot (from sun, lights, etc); if you pruned it back to the nearest leaf node that is green, you have done what you can. If you want to worry some about your plant while you are gone, I guess it won't hurt anything; but it won't help either. Enjoy your trip...See Moreimportant question
Comments (2)I would choose a H. macrophylla or H. quercifolia (oakleaf hydrangea). It will need protection from the sun starting around 11am-12pm in the summer months. A place that is not windy will help prevent wilting episodes on the first few years. Hydrangeas do well in well draining, moist (not wet), acidic soil so you will need to amend the soil or grow it in pots/containers. I grow them in the ground but have to amend the soil (to acidify it) in Spring and sometimes again in July-Fall. Oakleafs are more drought tolerant but the roots develop root rot if allowed to stay in wet soil for long periods of time. Places with unamended clay soil or places where water accumulates can be problematic to oakleafs....See MoreReplace Granite? Important Question about cooktop
Comments (10)I recall in another post your saying that the supplier of the granite doesn't carry BA. This leads me to believe they do carry other options other than the small list you were given. Is there any way that you can get a list of ALL of the colors they carry, or, even better, visit the yard(s) that the supplier uses and then go and pick your own that way? I'd be pushing these people HARD CORE on this. If they say our supplier doesn't have BA, that to me implies they checked into a list the supplier has. Even if they won't give you a credit, I think that asking them to not install the counters and allowing you to bring in your own countertop people should be doable. Just have it in your contract that the countertops are NOT to be installed and you do that the day the builder completes their work. I mean, why "spend" however much on countertops you don't want just to turn around and have to rip them out, perhaps damaging cabinets you DO want? Seems you'd be out money either way-at least this way when you move in what you want is there and you don't waste perfectly good stone....See Morefloral_uk z.8/9 SW UK
