Where would you go for five nights?
Comments (28)Well, I haven't been there since a I was a kid on a cruise. But, after a difficult period, I understand the island is going thru a big tourist resurgence. IIRC the NYT did an article about a a new very high end Ritz Carlton there, and that was what caught my interest. Maybe search for that article. I looked into the new Ritz there for a getaway for DH and I, and i remember we had to fly thru FL to get there (we would take Jetblue out of Westchester). We ended up not going because our nanny wasn't avail to watch the kids the one weekend that was best for schedules and weather. But IIRC there are lots of new hotels, and this time of year prices are lower. HTH!...See MoreWhere would you go?
Comments (48)Tropical...I LOVED Club Med as a kid!!! The instructors were fabulous and oh so friendly! I learned to surf, wind sail, kayak and para sail. I wish we could afford to take our kids. It was so carefree not having to deal with money and just go and do stuff. The food was amazing and eating in a big ole open buffet meeting people from around the world was so different than the US. Everyone chatted as best they could with each other. This was back in the early 90's so you'll want to ask around and find out if it's still as good as it was....See MoreWhere Would You Go?
Comments (22)To answer some questions & give additional info: We live in a pretty warm (most of the time climate) - coastal NC, near Wilmington. We're not sure about when we'll take the trip. Although it will be for our anniversary, which is in Oct, the trip can be any time. DH may be having elective surgery in mid-late summer. We are trying to decide if will take the trip before or after. We've talked about Scotland a lot because both our families are from there. We do want to go, but there are SO MANY other places both of us want to go. We'll never be able to travel to all the places we'd like to see. We'd love to go to Egypt (that is probably at the top of my list), but won't go because of the unrest there. I'm a little unsure about the political problems in Greece, but would love to go there. Italy and New Zealand have been serious considerations as well. We might enjoy some of the other islands (besides Hawaii) but want some place where there is at least some sightseeing. I prefer a very active vacation where I try to see as many sights as possible. DH is more relaxed and prefers to be on "vacation" time. We've learned to strike a happy medium on that. Thanks for the suggestions - you're giving us lots to think about!...See MoreWhere Would You Go?
Comments (57)Sounds like a number of you would like to come here. I moved from USA to England in 2002 when I married my British husband. I like it here but trust me the language is still different. My husband tells me I speak American not English. I do love the country side, we live in a very rural area near Liverpool, I would hate living in London. I still miss home (US) and my part time job at a large garden center allows me to have summers off so I can still go back to spend time with family and friends, of course if they could be here with me that would make life easier. I still miss the groceries, craft stores and other items easily found in US, which would explain why my luggage is just under the weight limit when I come back here in Sept. I always said I wanted to live on an island.........in my head I was thinking more tropical...I guess I was specific enough!! LOL Diane...See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
