Dishwasher reliability: Would you buy your DW again?
Comments (49)I know I'm a latecomer to this thread, but it's a good topic. The house I bought 6 years ago came with a Miele Novotronic DW. At first I was put off by the cutlery rack at the top, and still don't like having to "arrange" all the flatware, but the unit has been very good at washing, and it's pretty quiet. It has a fan that evacuates the steamy air through the door at the end of the cycle, so dishes are fairly dry. I don't think any new model offers this. But the experience I have had with Miele technical service on the phone deserves a special mention. They are quick to pick up, knowledgeable, patient and very polite. They will walk you through your problem and offer the appropriate solutions, most of which you can carry out yourself. Once you've made your first call, you're in their system. Best customer service I've ever encountered! Further, Miele excels in easy-to-fix design. Most owner-serviceable items (and there are several) can be easily removed and replaced - many without any tools. Some require a Philips screwdriver or a pair of pliers. I'm about to remodel my kitchen but the old dishwasher is going to stay. If it ain't broke, don't ditch it!...See MoreHelp cooking lobster tails
Comments (11)This is how I usually cook lobster tail: Broiled Lobster Tail Royale makes 4 servings 4 cold-water lobster tails in their shells, 6 - 7 oz. 1 cup unsalted butter 2 teaspoons finely minced garlic 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste Heat the broiler. With kitchen scissors, cut the upper shell of the each lobster tail down the center of the back, leaving the tail fan intact. Lift the uncooked tail meat through the slit so it rests on the shell. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic, lemon juice and parsley. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, without allowing the butter to brown, until the garlic is fragrant. Remove the heat and keep warm. Place the lobster tails on a broiler pan. Pour 2 tablespoons of the garlic-parsley butter to a small bowl and use it to brush on the lobster tails. Broil the tails, at least 6 inches from the heat, for 8 minutes, or until the meat is opaque and firm to the touch. (Note: It only took 6 minutes to cook my lobster.) To serve, place the lobster tails on 4 warmed plates. Divide the warm garlic-parsley butter among 4 ramekins and serve with the lobster for dipping. Comments (23)Good grief, everything sounds incredible! Robert wants the whole lobster 'experience ', so there are two live lobsters in the fridge as we speak! I am going to do the twice baked potatoes (sour cream, butter, chives, bacon crumbles, cheese), angel biscuits with lemon butter, roasted brussels sprouts (yes to olive oil and balsamic). I'll make a couple sushi rolls for appetizers, the rice is cooling now. Then, I'll bake the potatoes for the first time, then fix them up for the second baking....maybe with the yeasty biscuits. Then the lobsters, and lastly, the sprouts. Sound like a plan? I bought him a pretty cupcake to top it off. :-) I really appreciate all of the ideas. I'd fix some of those creamy dishes in a heartbeat if it were for me! Luckily, I have the appropriate utensils for cracking and opening....See MoreHelp! Dying Dishwasher: Would You Recommend Yours? Comments (60)I may just have a lemon with this current KitchenAid. I don't know, but I can tell you that the rusting has been extremely significant, and the repairs so far, very costly. But, it is so quiet that I have to put my ear to the door in order to see if it's on. I do love my KA French Door refrigerator with the freezer drawer at the bottom and no outside ice dispenser. No problems with that, other than the freezer drawer getting ice build up and clogging the drainage hole at the bottom occasionally. We also have a KA double wall oven, which is doing well still, with some recent repairs. This is year ten for all of them, and I am hoping the rest hold out for several more years!...See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years agowritersblock (9b/10a) thanked dcarch7 d c f l a s h 7 @ y a h o o . c o m
