Sigh. Yet another long-time member gone. For christ sake, it's a group online, that discusses Laundry Detergent. Freaking Soap. How in the world -- can no one get along???

It's so sad, honestly. Eventually -- everyone in this community of significance will be gone. And it'll all be just random people - posting once or twice a month, about removing red wine they spilled. And... what decent memories this forum transpired, will be long lost.

I hope the few of you remaining are happy. It's you that have driven once a fun spirited -- happy community into the ground.

What happened? I haven't driven anyone away, so I am not sure who that message above is aimed at. I have no idea what has happened here.

I keep telling myself to stop acting like a fool and grow up after all its just a forum..yet isn't a forum made up of real people...I used to only be a lurker here but one day Larsi said something and I suddenly found myself jumping in..and I made a friend...Larsi.

I'm sad.

Jody, no the post wasn't aimed at anyone specific. Just hoping since Larsi started this post he would get a notification and know he is missed. He posted he was leaving a few days ago and the post was quickly deleted by the powers that be. Sometimes new or occasional posters find this site and can't seem to understand we are "normal" people who have unique personalities and are accepting of all. They take personal offense to minor, but to them huge differences in opinions or acronyms. To me the world is a better place when you are surrounded by different kinds of people and opinions. I like to think and experience the richness of this world not stifle expression.

I hope Larsi comes back in time. He's missed.

I am visiting the forum, while I am hoping to make some better decisions on detergent. I know I must have visited a few years back as well, because I got the advice here, to try Charlie's Soap which apparently was popular here at the time. Or at least with whoever I talked to. [g]

But since I will be here for at least a few weeks, I feel I need to address some of the posts made here about Larsi. It was actually me who ended up having an issue with his use of language on my first visit here. I thought he was a she at the time, and I brought it up in a post. There was an unhappy exchange between the two of us for all of 2 comments and that was the end of it.

I was pretty surprised to read Larsi's last comment saying good bye to forum members. He said someone had reported him to the moderator. He was very upset. I posted a reply to assure him that I had not reported him to the moderator, but before there could be a response, the moderators yanked the thread.

None of us are perfect, including me. I read a few of Larsi's posts and he seemed to be an enthusiastic person who got along with a lot of people here. His final comment went on to say that people here had complained about his language before. I noticed he added the language to the subject line of one of his comments recently, so really, who had to report him, he was making it very obvious to the moderator. There are terms of service. I don't understand, since he said how much he enjoyed this forum and the people here, why it wasn't an easy solution to refrain from using the language. But I'm brand new here, so obviously I don't know Larsi or any of you.

There was more to his comment that I found quite surprising in it's intensity that I asked him about, but never did get to hear what he had to say.

So, that's all I have to say. I am reading some of the comments here that are directed to some members who are now blamed that Larsi is gone, and I don't see how that helps, but.... I'm just passing through. I find it odd that this is a huge problem in a Laundry forum of all things.

Larsi isn’t coming back, and sadly, intolerance has driven this forum down until a majority of the knowledgeable oldtimers are gone. Having been here many years, and learned so much, I am saddened. A closed group is all well and good, and I’m grateful for it, but what I liked about GardenWeb was how it welcomed new people, and tolerated all kinds of folks so long as they were kind—which Larsi eternally was.

I'm not sure what you mean about a 'closed group'.

I do understand what it's like to be part of a forum and to see members leave, it is sad. I've been a member of GW since 2002, and some very popular forums that were fun for awhile, had a lot of people leave at one time or another and the forum was never the same. People get along for awhile and inevitably people get on each other's nerves and if they can't work it out in a good way, the whole forum is affected.

Larsi, posted a goodbye post to the forum and before more than 3 or 4 responses could be made, the moderator yanked the thread. And his member page is gone as well. That happened either yesterday or the day before.

Yes, Larsi will be missed. Very knowledgable and kind.

I was one of the few to respond on Larsi's final tread before the moderators pulled his goodbye post.

Although a newbie here in Houzz Laundry forum I have been with Gardenweb for many years.

I have met and commented with several fine folks here and I always liked the welcoming environment, especially with the new people coming in. Sadly, this is not the norm across the 'net. This place just has a great "vibe".

I always enjoyed Larsi's posts. He is very energetic and this energy came through from reading his posts. He was/is extremely helpful and gave a truthful opinion whether you liked it or not, you have to appreciate that attribute in a person.

This place won't be the same without him.

Larsi, if you are reading this and are ever in the New England area , I would love to have a beer with you.

Prairiemoon...the closed group is a place Larsi created a long time ago..private and by invitation only. Its great fun and freedom of speech regardless of ones beliefs.

Jeff your not so new..your like a regular old timer and your valued.

Occasionally this forum is mentioned in other Houzz forums. Folks speak about how caring and kind people are here. I agree. This room has been nic named Family of Friends. Quite some time ago I noticed how many of the regulars were no longer around and I commented about it.
