Dilemma about TV placement

Not sure if this is right place to ask for the advice. We are really stuck at this final dilemma about the space design.

My question is where to put TV.

This is the plan A. The thing I don't like is the seating area is just behind the door. Maybe privacy is not so good. Image sitting on the sofa facing the front gate. And I don't know what to do with the space between sitting area and dining room. I put the piano between it but it looks weird.

So I started to think the plan B. Put the TV between living room and home office. Then a few things need to be adjusted. 1. The wall between living room and home office is wider so we can hang 65" TV there. Next to the FP on this wall. 2. So the kitchen island is shorter from 8' to 6'. 3. I also want to change the windows to backyard to 4 panel doors in solution B.

Could you please let me know which looks better to you? And the reason for it? Thanks!!!!!!

The rug in picture is just used to separate the area. The dining area is 17' by 14'.

Plan A is better in flow for the office and island. I suggest rotating the dining table to be parallel with the island. And how about switching positions with the loveseat with the chairs? Or, I wonder if the arrangement of sofa, loveseat, and chairs could be placed at a 45 degree angle with the TV in the corner next to the window? By rotating the other furniture the piano might be fine just where it is. Are you planning to use rugs to define the areas? I found them a little confusing in the drawings and conflicting with the open concept of the plan. Nice space.

Thanks Janiceme for your suggestion. You helped us decide to go with Plan A. Sorry for the confusing. Using the rugs in the drawing is just for my own convenience. I could read the rug size in the tool to get the size of the area. I'm not really using such big rug in the house. Any suggestions about the door and windows's size? Wonder if possible to have a 12 feet four panel sliding door in the living room.

I think the sectional is just too bulky for the room.. would it be that bad to leave the TV over the fireplace? what are the actual room dimensions? If you hang the tv on the short wall you need to have a way to watch without straining your neck.. what is the width of the room from fireplace (with the hearth) to the wall? option 1 - get rid of the sectional (yes it is comfy but bulky) and put a sofa facing fireplace, get 2 swivel chairs (recliners or not) to either face the tv on short wall or swing around and face the 'people' sitting on the sofa and a narrow ottoman for additional seating.. sketch the room on grid paper with as exact dimensions as you can.. option 2 - leave the TV above the fireplace but i would still replace the sectional with a sofa and chairs so you have more walk through space and the ability to move the chairs if you need to.

Thank you. Honestly, we are avid TV watchers but aren't willing to sacrifice the view either. I can't really include pics as it is not torn out enough yet to see how it lays out. The ceiling is vaulted so the TV from the ceiling might not be best and would be down pretty much permanently. You use a small break for the TV. I considered putting a smallish fireplace on the window wall with a TV above but worried that blocking off the view would be a mistake i would regret. Also, If i put the TV on the window wall in any sort of built in manner, that would really limit changing furniture arrangement in the future. I really don't want to make a mistake!!

That's great, thank you! I don't have an outlet appropriately located for a lamp there but I like the idea of something tall, I will look for something to serve that role. Any comments/ suggestions on furniture placement, rugs, coffee table etc. We have just moved from a MUCH smaller space and arranging furniture here seems like it should be easy but it does't feel that way! as far as furniture goes, coffee table will be the first to go. This old ikea beast has served us well but time for it to become a basement dweller.
