Shelf color and leg style suggestions for my desk
Comments (3)I would put a square box-like base on it. I don't think any type of leg would look very good. Or you could add a box-like top on your piece....one that opens up to put things in. How much extra height do you need to make it a stand up piece?...See MoreNeed suggestions from the Pros...help w/ my desk area, please!
Comments (3)Hmmm...you probably do not want to close up the wall above the current bar...but you could still put a calendar, etc. on the side walls. As to your comments/question, are you saying you will have 41" b/w the desk's counter edge and the island's counter edge? If the aisle b/w the desk & island is a walkway, then 41" may not even be enough room for an aisle. let alone any kind of seating! The appropriate aisle width depends on... (1) how much traffic there is in the aisle (through-traffic as well as kitchen traffic) (2) if you plan to have a chair at the desk (3) whether you plan to use that side of the island as a work station. If you're planning on seating on that side of the island plus have the desk w/seating, then you need a much wider aisle! I would venture to say as much as 5' (60"). If you make it a Message Center or no desk/desk chair on the kitchen side but still have island seating, then I would still like to see at least a 48" aisle with appropriate seating overhang on the island, and 54" if it's an aisle with traffic (i.e., not a "dead end" aisle) OR your overhang is less than 15"; 48" if there's no traffic. As to the "judges panel"...are you saying you would have the desk front be on the other side and have the back of the cabinet(s) face the kitchen? If so, then I assume you're talking about putting decorative door panels on the back of the desk cabinet(s)...and I think that's a good idea. If you're working on a layout, you might want to post here for comments...if you want comments, that is! (Not everyone does, so if you don't that's fine...just a suggestion.)...See MorePaint color for dark office with cherry desk?
Comments (31)Glad you like the suggestion(s). I have a similar color in my livingroom, Behr's War Muffin but it's a stronger gold and I ended up repainting two of our walls cream to help tone it down a bit. Now I love it but when I chose it, I new nothing about painting or color. I think having a more muted tone would have been my preference if I had known then what I do now. Lighting has so much to do with it too, if you paint a sample on your wall, the Oat may not be as muted as it seems on the card. This isn't our room, but it is a good representation of the Warm Muffin color. As for the drapes, I got the 2nd photo off of google images, the first one is from Pottery Barn. I love the idea of a printed drape. If you're leaning in that direction (or even a printed rug) I would first find the drapes or rug you want and then pull your wall color from them. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you end up choosing and how your project looks when it's done!...See MoreHOME OFFICE EMERGENCY: DESK AND WALL COLOR CLASHING :(
Comments (2)what temp bulbs do you have above? first see if 4000K bulbs makes a diff. I don't think it's the wall color, I think it's just the color of the desk. It's ivory. so get your stuff set up on it, add some green plants, and art above the desk. see how it looks...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
