Laptop won't hook up to wireless network
Comments (8)try a full power down of everything I do mean everything. Power off the computers, the router, the modem etc. leave all power off for 5 mins or so, then power up in this order, power to modem only let it get fully lit up, then power on to router, let it get fully lit up, then power up your computers letting each get fully loaded. Then try to connect to your wireless, I assume you have put in your wireless network passphrase for the laptops that are trying to access the wifi network....See MoreLaptop won't pass starting window screen
Comments (5)Thank you so much for all of your inputs. I took out the battery as suggested, it did not work. Powered on with/without docking station, it did not work. Went to work called the IT support team. First tried the "tapping F8 key" just as Mikie suggested, got into Start Options menu, picked "Last use good configuration" or something like that. Once computer finished the steps, repowered it on, but the power up still could not pass the "starting window" screen. Then tried the "tapping F12 key". I had to start tapping the F12 key as soon as push the power on botton. Finally get into the start options menu, picked "diagnostic". It ran a lengthy testing for about 30 minutes. The results showed error code 2000-0142, msg 6142 status 79. Tech support person said the hard drive was bad. The rest of the testing on memory and CPU...etc. showed no problem. I am waiting for IT to install new hard drive and port old data. I only hope that the data I did not back up would be preserved....See MoreSrew turns but won't come out
Comments (15)I was having problems with tiny screws that turned but wouldn't come out the whole way on the bottom of a laptop. Started researching it online some and most who had success with this said if you could get something underneath the screw you could gently pry it upward while turning, my problem was similar to this but not such a deep hole, so I used thread and floral wire to get underneath the screws...the one that was really tricky I used the thread. It was a little more time consuming to get the thread the entire way around the screw and it came off the first time so I decided to tie the thread around it the next time around. Then I did just gently pull it out while using the screwdriver a little more. I know this post was years ago but i was linked to it today so Hope this helps anyone else who has this kind of a problem. (on the other side of the plastic there were strange little washers that kept me from gaining access, I think they are there in order to keep the screws attached to the plastic so they don't get lost?)...See MoreVolume won't turn up
Comments (15)I have tried everything everyone has suggested and still can't hear music or most audio clips. Thomasxz I get free service for life because a guy I used to work with now works with Data Doctors and gave me free help for as long as I own the computer although I still have to purchase parts. There is no need for sarcasm. I would rather help myself than lose my computer for a few days to the shop for repairs. Chas045, everything related to volume that I found is at 100%. I, do use the F keys for volume and muting but my keys are F9 and F10 for volume, F11 and F12 are mute and unmute. mxyplux, why would I worry? DA McCoy, what is the link to Playing Audio Troubleshooter? Thank you to all that have been helpful, and to those of you who have nothing to add there is no need to reply....See More- 8 years ago
