Help with kitchen flooring

I have a light honey laminate flooring throughout the whole house including the kitchen. I would like to replace the flooring in the kitchen because it's in bad shape (water damage from leaking fridge, deep scratches/marks as well as improper DIY installation that has large gaps, etc.). The area is 200sqf.

I'm looking for advice on a) what kind of flooring (I'm leaning towards tiles because it's more durable and I think would look odd to have another colour or type of laminate or LVF flooring) and b) colour (my preference is stick with a light colour and was thinking of off-white). No kids or pets. Budget is under $1000 CAD (not including installation). I don't have the budget to the whole floor so scope is only the kitchen please.
