15 degrees (9:45a) today, with fluffy powder-snow that partially melted yesterday; expecting another inch or two today. Bones hurt today so I think that snowy inch might turn out to be rather more. Main roads clear, side streets and subdivision streets are glare ice from vehicle tracks - not salted anywhere. Getting back home is going to be interesting since that involves a very short but very, very steep little hill.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder surgery too, DTD. I'm sure you will make a lot of progress with PT and hopefully be ready for the gardening season in the spring. Sounds like you picked the right time to have your surgery and recovery. :-) I was just looking over this thread again. This year, we are thinking along the line Bill is thinking tooâ¦lol My husband does all the shoveling lately but this year he's dealing with Tendonitis on his elbow and even using the electric shovel, is problematic. It has to be lifted and moved often enough to become a problem when your arm is not 100%. And even the adaptations for shovels for ergonomics don't seem to be workable. So as much as I enjoy the snow, we're really glad we haven't had much of it so far too.

Y'all, Our local forecaster upped our chance for rain turning to snow tomorrow from 40% to 50% and I'm not thrilled about that. He's pretty good too. He's been a meteorologist here in the Texoma region for about 26 years and he is right a whole lot more often than he is wrong. He's still saying 1-2" and nothing to get really excited about but that's not much comfort to the folks who still have trouble getting out of their driveways. I'm more worried about his use of the terminology "rain turning to snow" because that means there is a chance we'll have freezing rain as it makes the transition and freezing rain coats and brings down power lines and trees. (As if I even have to state the obvious after all that so many of you have suffered through the last few years with ice storms.) Susan, Poor Del Rio. I didn't look at a zone map but I'm guessing they are probably zone 8b or 9a. Their semi-arid and subtropical plants won't be crazy about the cold, but Del Rio gets so very little moisture that I bet everyone will be excited about that. It seems like they'll get a light snow maybe once or twice a decade there, so I suppose if anything falls, everyone will be thrilled to see it. (They can have our snow too if they want it!) I guess the recurring colder-than-average temps and rain, sleet and snow are giving us just what El Nino is expected to bring, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. Let's hope El Nino gets bored with torturing our region and moves on. Santa Claus brought all of us new hats and gloves for Christmas and I guess maybe he should have brought snow boots and sleds too. LOL Dawn

Um, NO! Not missing the snow. I still have nightmares from last year's 4'-plus of snow (I'm in northeastern CT). One day I couldn't find a road that my car could drive on; kept driving around till I finally found a route to my house. Got stuck in the road once getting into my driveway. Locked myself out while shoveling snow off the roof above my deck. No gloves, coat or cell phone. Was afraid to call to the mail lady because I didn't want her to call the police for fear it would make the news! Finally saw someone on the next street over (it's below the 20-foot cliff at the edge of my property), who called my sister for me. Worst of all, my kitchen was being renovated during that time. I have a half-feral cat who goes crazy when he can't go out, even just to sit on the porch, during winter. One of the contractors arrived early, and scared him off, and I had to go to work. When I got back my cat wasn't around. I called and drove all around the neighborhood to no avail. Walked around, fell on the ice and smacked my head. There was a cold front and another blizzard coming in that night. The next day was beautiful, so I slid down the sideyard (I don't shovel the side) because the ice storm had packed down all the snow. Went all around the yard, finally heard him crying from my neighbor's basement in her garage). Finally got him in the house, took off my boots and couldn't understand why my socks were pink. I had cut my legs on the ice! Also took a flying leap off my front porch steps. Whole body ached for days. No, I don't miss snow!
