Mine is a camel color and I also have a black one.

My old coat was black with fur trim. I just got a new coat off eBay. Nautica brand in Navy blue. I love it.

Mine is blue with grey lining.

I have two red coats...one knee length and light weight wool for when it's in 40's and one longer and heavier wool when it's in 30's and my Dr. Zhivago coat (that's what I call it) it's ankle length, black and fur trimmed hood. I wear it for dressier cold occasions. Mostly here because of weather I wear wool shawls. I have a red one, black and white plaid, brown paisley and a black one....depends on my outfit for the day which one I wear.

I have to which I interchange as I find they get dirty very quickly. Mine are a puffy Deep Purple and a bluish purple. Not that I don't love other colours you understand but this time I just ended up with two purple coats. The Bluish purple one has a lining that comes out which makes it useful for the spring as well.

I have several for shopping that come below the hips. My favorite one though is a hooded wool zippered one in red . For dress coats that come down to the knees, I have a black one and a royal blue one and usually reach for blue one( depending on what I am wearing)

One short red wool Anne Klein tailored jacket with lapels for 'cool, but not cold'. Three years old.

One darker red (washable) nylon/cotton with down fill Rainforest coat with hood for 'COLD'. Four years old.

One ankle length fitted black alpaca/wool Calvin Klein dress coat for 'cold, but you won't be outdoors much'. So old I don't remember.

I just bought a small red leather Cole Hahn purse with no junk metal on it. (Hard to find.) I Like Red.

My favorite winter warmest coat is black. It's been with me a few years now and I keep thinking I should be considering a replacement, but I haven't seen anything I like as well and no one but me knows its age, still looks great. It was one of those 10 second decisions that worked out well. We were in Portland for the holidays and I woke up to sub freezing temps and a dry howling wind outside our hotel, day after Christmas. I didn't have a warm enough coat with me and sprinted into Nordstrom before breakfast at my brothers, grabbed the coat from a sale rack. One of my best purchases ever.

Let me start by saying I have a 'thing' for coats/jackets that is right up there with my 'thing' for shoes.

I have three parkas - Calvin Klein maroon down parka, London Fog tan down parka and a no-name brand royal blue poly-fill parka.

I have four lighter weight coats one that is tan in a soft cotton (almost like flannel) with a lining that reminds me of a Native American blanket. One is denim on the outside and lined with fleece on the inside. Both of these coats have hoods. One is is a nubby black/brown speckled material. All of the above coats are hip to mid-thigh length.

After that I have several lighter weight jackets in winter white, tan, tan, tan, tan suede (I must have a 'thing' for tan), brown, red, teal, peach, green, light green (not quite lime) suede, two denims, off white and one that I call my blanket coat. It is stripes of multi-colors (also similar to a Native American blanket) and has a hood. It is one of my favorites.

And, then there are the hoodies which I won't even go into.

Besides my 'thing' for coats and jackets, we do have a climate here that can change one day to the next from snow or rain to temps in the teens to bitter winds to a bright, sunny spring like day all within the same week. Some days only a parka will do and other days all one needs is a hoody or light sweater.

The only thing I don't have is a black coat. Will have to work on that.

Like DawninCal I have a thing for coats/jackets/sweaters with scarves and purses to go with them.

I probably own a coat/jacket/sweaters in every colour - lime green, purple, brown, red, plaid, pink, navy blue, grey. I have one black coat which is for dress.

My favourite is the lime green. It's gortex and perfect for west coast rainy weather.

My favorite is my cranberry full length Burberry wool, totally impractical here. Maybe worn twice. Thank goodness I got it on clearance. Usually a hoodie is enough here.

Pink . Just like everything else in my house.

Black, of course. Both of them. One is a down shorter-length jacket-style, and the other is a wool trench. We're in Europe and NYC so often that I don't want to stand out as a non-European/New Yorker (at a glance), so I dress as the locals do.

My daughter just got a new down coat it’s a very pretty eggplant color, not something I thought I’d like but the color really makes the coat.

Red -- need more cheer in the winter.

I have a black and a navy, both required in my work but my favorite is teal and a really cute swing coat with huge buttons. I love it. That said I am always so darned warm I usually don't wear a coat unless it is well under 32.

I have 3 favorites -- dark cherry red, black/white/grey tweed, and eggplant.

Mine is navy blue but I need a new one. I am surprised to see the number of red and eggplant. Something for me to consider when I'm shopping for one.

I do not have any coats, just jackets. One is purple and the other is cranberry.

I have a red one and a teal one that I've had for several years. I don't wear them a lot here. I have a grey pea coat that I bought here that is lighter weight and looks good with nice clothes. I have several light jackets in various colors because I like color.

I have a purple and fuchsia down jacket and a black wool stadium coat. I think I have a long gray wool coat, too, if I didn't donate it in the last purge. I have assorted work jackets too, for hauling firewood.

I just got a white, puffy, down coat for Christmas! We do our gifts before Eve dinner

I usually wear my black leather ones, but recently bought a champagne down filled one with a detachable hood. I do have a couple of down LL Bean for really cold...like shoveling snow!

I have a thing for coats and jackets too. I am giving some away or may sell a couple because I have retired and don’t need them. I have 2 furs (black mink and sheared beaver), a down storm coat I wear to really cold soccer games and such. My favorite is a red down jacket I wear almost everywhere and a lightweight gray wool jacket that is 3/4 length asymmetrical that I always get compliments on. Then I have a couple of leather ones, an ivory raincoat and various running jackets in different colors (fluorescent green, fuschia, red), and several hoodies.

My favorite winter daily coats are mink ( in brown and almost black color), they're light and warm.

There is not many color choices for men's outer coats, but in the past few years, I have been avoiding dark colors due to poor visibility at night. that's critical during the winter months. While driving at night, I have noticed that its too easy to not see a pedestrian at the edge of the driving lane or next to the lane. When they wear dark clothing, they come into view too late in my book. This winter, there has been a few sad cases of pedestrian strikes that could have been avoided if they were wearing move visible garments, or not have been stupid enough to walk in a driving lane when there was a sidewalk available.

There are motorcycle cold weather riding jackets for guys very well insulated and visible in the dark (reflective). I spotted a few people wearing them in the stores. Some of the styles look like a normal winter coat or a insulated leather jacket. Check out motorcycle super store, they always have something on sale.

Hah! I forgot my ancient raccoon coat -- why do I keep THAT?

You can use your raccoon coat as a blanket for a sofa or a bed. :-) Our low temp here will soon be 3F-5F, I will see a lot of full length raccoon coats in the grocery stores.

My "shopping/running errands" jacket is a short, fuchsia colored with a grey lining. My other jacket for colder activities is a tan carhartt.

One is Hunter green, and the other one is Red.

Tonight, I wore my very light tan colored goose down parka to a star Wars movie, The Last Jedi. By the time we got home, it was -4 F. Around here, winter weather trumps style.

After reading, I went out of my comfort zone and decided to get a cherry red pea coat. Now I need a scarf to go with it.

I am surprised at the number that go for color. Hmmm, maybe I'll try some colors I do like when I am shopping for a coat. Usually, I only look at the neutral ones.

Well you've seen my neutral, tan wool pea coat. ;) I have the same coat in turquoise plaid, I usually wear purple scarf and gloves with it. I have a fushia puffy coat. I have a periwinkle with salmon zipper fleece Columbia. Those are the colder weather coats...

I bought a new coat today, . It's mid-thigh gold insulated for those raw PNW rainy cold days.

I have a black ski jacket and dress coat, but I enjoy wearing color. I get the most wear out of the jackets and 3/4 length fleece or pimaloft in shades of fuschia, navy, and light blue. My very warm parka is red - great for bundling up. I love my rust color swing 3/4 coat. For X-mas from DH, I received a gorgeous indigo blue wool cape from Ireland. Love it.

My warmest coat is a light grey toggle coat from Brooks Brothers. I love that coat and it's easy to add colorful hats and scarves to brighten it up. It's a perfect weight for our usually mildish winters and I can wear anything with it.

Dear husband gave me a tartan plaid poncho, also from BBrothers. Sounds gaudy but it isn't at all. I love it! It's not for very cold temperatures, though.

My dress coat is a mid-calf winter ivory wool that I've had for years. It will never go out of style; I hope to have it until it's threadbare!

My everyday casual jacket is a light olive, canvas barn style coat with brown cuffs and collar.

But it has to be pretty cold before I'll reach for a coat or jacket, unless I'm going to be outside for extended periods.

Anyone in the market for winter outerwear should shop the local thrift and consignment stores. I found a couple Patagonia Nano insulated vests last year, perfect for extra protection, but not at all 'puffy'. My denim jacket came from a thrift store, too.
