Other Design Dilemma home office

Global office decor

Hello,

I am a global consultant and work from a home office.

I recently purchased a new large white U-Shaped desk. I am looking for decor for the back shelves of the desk and the walls. I have a few symbols of success and work from other cultures but would love other ways to incorporate global cultures into my office.

I currently have four dark marble clocks on the wall with my four main time zones. I have a watercolor map of the world But have not hung it yet. I also have a silver globe.

Does anyone have ideas of office decor symbolizing different cultures around the world or just general ideas for a global office?

Is this office going to appear in skype backgrounds for your work? What you have sounds like enough already.

Fabrics should be included that provide some pattern and texture, otherwise everything will seem flat. Is there a rug (or will be)? What about lamps and lamp shades, desk chair, guest seating, window treatments? Favorite fabrics include Ikat and animal prints, especially in velvet. Baskets and natural wood make nice additions.

All, Last week, we went to the local Global showroom and tried out the ObusForme 4630 chair. We liked it. However, before plunking down the bucks, we want to try the ObusForme 4640 chair, which the local showroom does not have. I wouldn't use either of these. Instead use a light whose lens is recessed behind the light's rim, reducing its glare from the side. Here are a few at Home Depot: Prime 16 in. Oatmeal Integrated LED Flushmount Light Orme 16 in. 1-Light Black/Brushed Nickel LED Flush Mount Lynch Black and Gold Flush Mount Monteaux 13 in. Black Integrated LED Flush Mount Ring 17.7 in. Black Integrated LED Metal Flush Mount Note that there are some canless recessed lights that don't require a lot of vertical space in the ceiling but have a deep baffle to prevent glare (example).

You might want to wait until you find your new rug to decide on the paint colour but if you're looking for a dark cozy home library vibe, how about matching the walls to the new Ikea furniture? Give them a built-in look? Depends on what's going on in the rest of the space. I like the lines of those Ikea pieces, btw. I feel you on the peeling paint! I have the same issue in a bedroom and the hallway. Pretty sure it's a latex over oil paint issue in my case but for whatever reason, it took 15 years to surface. My peeling paint is BM. It's a maddening mess but supposedly, I now have the right BM primer to "fix" the issue. I have a dark Behr colour in the dining room. Just a coverage issue there. No peeling.
