Help me design a bathroom around this vanity! Stuck on tile/motif
Comments (14)Just finished tiling my bathroom and I too will be installing a contemporary dark cabinet (American standard studio.. http://www.americanstandard-us.com/products/productDetail.aspx?id=1925) but instead it will a have squared sink also sitting on top of a glass counter top. I wanted to somehow tie in the color of the glass tiles and counter top and this is the combo I came up with. my wife and just about anybody who has seen the bathroom absolutely loved it. Ill try and post some pics. Trying to explain how these tiles look together just does not do them any justice glass tiles from: (have more green to them than the pic shows) http://www.glasstilestore.com/product_p/taobliss.htm subway tiles from: http://www.tileshop.com/products/detail.aspx?categoryID=6&subcategoryID=37&familyID=1277&Record_ID=8656...See MoreHelp Me Design Around This....
Comments (1)Since you have two silver finishes (chrome and pewter), I would probably do raw brass hardware. For fridge pulls, especially, I would get something that attached from the back rather than screwed in from the front That way you will be relying on metal to metal contact and the full thickness of the wood rather than wood screws putting pressure on the face of the cabinet...See MoreHelp Me Design Around Structural Column In Bathroom
Comments (8)I agree that the little counter is both non functional and not very attractive. I would NOT have placed the middle tall cabinet there but would have just had an open counter with the linen closet at the end. I am wondering if I should have the door open into the counter and therefore have storage immediately adjacent to my dressing/vanity space. I could store stuff of the counter and it would be more easily accessible. However I wouldn't be able to have a mirror that is mounted to the wall as I wanted in that spot - the kind that goes in and out - can't think of the name at this moment :-) I could have lower part of the cabinet facing in the other direction and maybe actually do drawers instead of a door on that side and use for storage that doesn't need to be accessible to the vanity area....See MoreHelp me design around my husband’s audio equipment!!!
Comments (21)Audiophiles are indeed particular souls, and with good reason. The equipment is an investment, and when you start looking at the uber high-end brands, there's no comparing it to even one of the better lines such as Bose. No idea what brand of equipment your hubby owns, but he values it and that's all that matters. I agree with the suggestion to simply get a larger console to tuck away as many of the components as appropriately fit, but I would not fret the fact that there are speakers on the floor. I think we tend to get a bit obsessive over having our homes picture-perfect, when the reality is that we share them with others who have a host of interests and tastes, and they too should have a say in what goes into a room. Besides, those speakers are not at all obtrusive IMO. (You want obtrusive? These ginormous, tall corner pieces are very similar to my father's Klipsch horns. They currently sell for just under $15k. This is not your Bose sound. ;-))...See Moreapple_pie_order
