Comments (3)Sorry AGA does still have their 36" fridge: http://www.aga-ranges.com/_store/Scripts/prodview.asp?idproduct=160 It's not a french door though. Bottom-mount freezer with a single left-hinge or right-hinge door above. And there are others too. There are multiple KitchenAid & Jenn-Air models that are freestanding and counter-depth. Elecrolux Icon has a 24" deep SxS. With their nice french door model, the cabinet is counter-depth with the doors extending past by about 2". (But avoid the Elux models with in-door water dispenser.) If your budget & cabinet layout allows, there are numerous built-in options. Do you have a budget in mind? Comments (13)Not sure about the "Consistency" of my good friends advice here. First He recommends the SZ, by now most folks know about the copper problems(2004-2007) that contributed to their bottom ranking by Consumer Reports--even one of their marketing guys admitted that. He or another SZ type also said that another reason for the low rating was they had a 2 year warranty, instead of a one year. Now I don't know bout you, but I don't get a "warm fuzzy feeling" knowing that enough SZ's needed warranty work in the 2nd year to contribute to their low reliability ratings. We haven't seen these types of posts recently regarding SZ problems--so--I guess we can assume you feel they corrected the problem/problems and hence you recommend. Take a look at recent posts about Elux Fridges (within the last year or so), most are now positive---so why not "Forgive and forget" like you do with the SZ. I, in fact, had recommended not buying Elux Refrigerators, due to the earlier posts, (alto I'm very happy with my other Elux appliances)----Now I am keeping an open mind, due to some of the imformative posts by the Ladies above! We can learn a lot from these Ladies (Above), if we keep an "Open Mind" Cheers! Gary...See More36" Counter Depth, French Door, Refrigerator Help!
Comments (6)Our LG French Door 30 CF fridge died after 7 years. Took repairmen 3 trips. LG has some well-designed refrigerators (space utilization) but not well engineered. So we are about to plunk down another $3-3,500 for a 36”, probably a GE. Moral of story: just because a company makes great TVs doesn’t mean they make good appliances....See MoreDepth of panels for counter-depth refrigerator?
Comments (38)Seeing your whole layout, I can understand why the refrigerator isn’t on the end of the run. Do you have a plan and purpose for that isolated stretch of counter? Would it be better to move the other tall cabinet up against the refrigerator and leave the counter on the end? When I see those types of counters separated from other kitchen functions, my mind always goes to a coffee/beverage center. A microwave there might be nice for snacks and reheating things from the refrigerator. A bar sink would be great for getting drinks, and making coffee without entering the kitchen and interfering with the cook. Sorry to to mess up your thread with these comments if you’ve already thought all this through....See More- 6 years ago
