I could use some ideas about what to make with...
Comments (11)Claire, I had something similar to these at a friend's home, and they were delicious. The main difference I see between what I was served and this recipe are that the ones I had had pepper jack cheese and no sour cream. Baked Eggs in Ham Crisps presented by 1823 Historic Rose Hill Inn 1/4 cup finely chopped shallots Other veggies  i.e. red pepper, spinach, mushrooms, your choice 2 T butter lemon pepper to taste salt to taste 2 T sour cream 12 slices Virginia Ham or Black Forest Ham 12 large eggs Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Coat muffin pan with cooking spray. Cook veggies in butter until soft. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream Assemble and bake: Put one slice of ham in each muffin cup. Ends will stick up and hang over edges of cups. Divide veggies among the cups and place on top of ham. Sprinkle with salt and lemon pepper. Crack 1 egg in each cup. Sprinkle lemon pepper on top. Bake about 15 minutes until eggs are set and cooked to your likeness....See MoreI need School Lunch Ideas
Comments (17)My mother was a master of the school lunch. I'll see if I can remember some of her lunches she packed me. A slice of garlic bread or a piece of good bread with butter and a container of cold spaghetti (or hot in a wide mouth thermos if I wanted it hot). Hot water in a thermos with instant hot chocolate mix and a few marshmallows. My favorite home made soup. Beef stew with biscuits. A chicken leg or thigh with coleslaw, a biscuit and honey. Hot sloppy joe mix in wide mouth thermos with a hamburger bun. Meatloaf, roast beef, sliced chicken or turkey sandwiches. Lettuce and tomato in a wide mouth thermos with ham, cheese and dressing to be added. Chili and a hot dog in a thermos with a hot dog bun and cheese packed for a chili dog. Carrot, celery, radishes, jicama, and peanut butter or salad dressing for dipping. Sliced chicken, turkey, roast beef, 2 slices of bread and a thermos of gravy for a hot sandwich. Hot velveeta cheese dip in a wide mouth thermos with tortilla chips and separate toppings to assemble nachos. A flour tortilla and fajita meat filling packed separately with some salsa and chips (long before she ever knew fajitas existed). Cooked plain spaghetti mixed with no bean chili in a wide mouth thermos with a buttered toasted hamburger bun. A knockwurst in a thermos of hot water and a french roll spread with good mustard and a side of her sweet and sauerkraut salad to go on the roll. Tuna or ham salad mix with crackers instead of as a soggy sandwich. Sliced varieties of cheese with various types of crackers. Banana nut bread (or any fruit and nut bread) spread with cream cheese. Hope this gives you some ideas....See MoreExterior brick what do? I really could use some thoughts..
Comments (10)We have had 2 brick homes with structural problems. 1905 and 1919. Our current home has a flat roof addition. So, yes, an open area 12 ft above the ground. I live old homes. I would consult a structural engineer - not a mason yet, not a contractor. We learned our options from him. Knowledge is power. My advice today is pretty much what it was when you posted before. Your balconies and lower porches are part of the same structure...one that looks like it is sloping downhill on the left, just like 2012's picture. And, yes, I know what structural work costs. But in my experience, it's the best alternative. Comments (12)I told DF my plan, and got "the look", which means his mom will probably get offended yet again...whatever. But things change from day to day with her - I'm going to go ahead and just plan a nice meal anyways, and if we need it, great, if not, I'll use the menu for another time. LOL Anita - I *want* to pay to take everyone to lunch ourselves, but my FMIL has a serious problem with the bride & groom paying for lunch on thier wedding day, which is why *she* wants to pay for it (but won't do it in a discrete way, which is why we refused). See the problem here? I can't have each mom make something, because then if one's dish was "more gone" than the other, they would be whining behind our backs (to us, individually) that everyone liked the *other* dish better. I know, it's pathetic, but true. That's why we can't grill either - both dad's grill, and both think they have the "perfect touch", and neither think that *we* should grill ourselves...aye karumba...what a mess. LOL Tally Sue, thank you!! I don't think I'll borrow the cookie cutters, but that is a wonderful idea! I'm going to keep your salad recipes too, because they sound great (esp. the pasta one). That would work with the baked chicken quite nicely (my sis will help, but she can't really cook, so nothing too fancy). Joann's fruit bowl would go nicely with all of those, I think...I'll have to check out that brunch menu. So many options!! Anita, that salmon dish sounds *phenomenal*, but unfortunately, it's hard to find good fish here (we're kind of land-locked). But I'm definately going to look into that... Thanks for all the options, gals!! Cross your fingers that this plan doesn't get nixed too...the rate we're going (everything I suggest seems to get shot down for some reason or other), we'll be having cake, punch, and going our merry way (what a relief *that* would be, eh?). *eyeroll* Whoever thinks a wedding is for the bride & groom is absolutely insane - with ours at least, it's for everyone *but* us, we just draw the line occasionally! LOL...See Moreaok27502
