Thank you I like the green and purple too. I love the gray house with the blue!!! It really makes the home stand out and look different without looking kooky. I've read the front door should stand alone in color while matching the shutters. This included different shades of the same color. They said it drew the attention to the front door/highlighted the entrance. Making the shutters the same colors as the door draws the eyes away from the entrance and can make a home look "choppy".

Wow, all of you are SO helpful! I agree, I can't get on board with a gold. The tones of the stone just do not show up in the photos, lots of yellowy-peachy tones. I was hoping to do something to get away from that. Now I am concerned about doing something darker. Oh dear!! I think I got my husband on board with a purple/wine/eggplant but now have concerns that many of you think it is not light enough. Back to the drawing board??

So glad you removed the shutters. They don't belong on your 1960s ranch home, even if they were put there by the original builder. Find a landscape designer to put together a plan for you that you can implement over time as your budget allows. Right now your landscaping acts as a barrier and not a sign of 'welcome home'. Wide & deep landscape beds with a wide entrance walkway open up your home. Good call on the black roof color for your new roof. Exciting times ahead!
