The Frigidare Gallery series is the best!!! It's stainless without the upkeep. Windex and a paper towel and it looks like new. Almost zero effort. I don't know why SS isn't offered in smudge free. Over had my fudge for 5 years, looks like the day I bought it. I just ordered the Gallery microwave. They have matching handles. Love Frigidare Gallery!!!!

I use Weiman SS Cleaner & Polish or Pledge in the brown can...both do a great job of removing all sorts of smudges/spots. They also appear to "repel" future fingerprints...at least I don't seem to get very many for a couple of weeks after using them. I find that other than wiping off spots from cooking, I only have to wipe down my SS appliances to get rid of fingerprints every 2 or 3 weeks... The DW needs much more frequent cleaning, though, since it gets water spots/streaks from dishes. I'm not sure I'd use BKF unless I had actual scratches on it...or if nothing else works.

Re. WD40. It's actually a pretty safe product. Here is the Toxicology info fro their MSDs 11 – Toxicological Information Symptoms of Overexposure: Inhalation: High concentrations may cause nasal and respiratory irritation and central nervous system effects such as headache, dizziness and nausea. Intentional abuse may be harmful or fatal. Skin Contact: Prolonged and/or repeated contact may produce mild irritation and defatting with possible dermatitis. Eye Contact: Contact may be irritating to eyes. May cause redness and tearing. Ingestion: This product has low oral toxicity. Swallowing may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. This product is an aspiration hazard. If swallowed, can enter the lungs and may cause chemical pneumonitis, severe lung damage and death. Chronic Effects: None expected. Carcinogen Status: None of the components are listed as a carcinogen or suspect carcinogen by IARC, NTP, ACGIH or OSHA. Reproductive Toxicity: None of the components is considered a reproductive hazard. Numerical Measures of Toxicity: The oral toxicity of this product is estimated to be greater than 5,000 mg/kg and the dermal toxicity greater than 2,000 mg/kg based on an assessment of the ingredients. Hi. I also own a Frigidaire Gallery side by side (freezer on left, and Fridge on right) with smudge proof coated stainless. And, I accidentally scraped the freezer door with a board that I was carrying through the kitchen... (don't ask). I bought a Rejuvenate kit ($6) to repair the door and the first thing it says is 'do not use on coated doors'. But, at this point I had no choice - as either I was going to repair the scratch or order a new door ($291). I used the kit and yes, it did fix the scratch properly, and yes it did remove the clear coat (just like you might have on a car) and you from the proper angle one could easily see the 'dull' area on my door where the clear coat was removed. I read about some various ideas on line to add a 'shine' back to the dull area. I tried plain old vegetable oil and rubbed it in. Believe it or not, it hides the dull area ALMOST perfectly. It's very hard to see the door was repaired - from any angle. So, for the cheapest solution - this is what I would have to recommend. I then bought some paste wax and also the 'once a year car polish' - since I thought they might be longer lasting... but neither was as good as vegetable oil. Neither of them could act as a 'clear coat' like the oil did. Anyway, we ordered a new door and it arrived today. They call it the door 'panel' so it's the front cap on the door, not the entire door. It has a ring of bolts that attach it to the door frame perimeter, so I will take them out, and swap it out in a few days for the new one. I'm happy to use my old smudge-proof door as a 'proving ground' for any ideas some of you might want to throw at me to see if there is any real legit solution that works. James
