My Machine, Your Display Drivers?

Since I have been fighting this Windows Update (1709) for the last six months, I have found no answer to fixing the messed up/unusable display problem!

I have also never come across anyone else that has the same exact problem!

There are plenty of folks that have a problem with the update but not my exact problem.

My question: Would it be practical to list my display drivers and the specs of my machine and ask those who have a similar model ... What display drivers they are using?

I am at a total loss as to where to go now. 8(

Don't know what brand of computer you have but many computer manufactures have a users forum which would be a good place to look around and to ask about your display problems. Make sure you give model numbers of your computer when asking.

Is that a Graphics card or is from the mother board ?

Don't you have this program installed? Some Toshiba's do. Toshiba application and driver installer I'm not suggesting you up-date drives unless there is a clear issue with the computer like a connection issue, mouse pad issue, display issue etc. Installing wrong drivers or versions can cause blue screen issues. Something you don't want to have. Definitely leave the BIOS alone! I believe that is your computer in the link below, and the associated drivers for it. I learned to sew on a Singer sewing Machine and remember quite vividly how my feet used to go like gangbusters on that thing. Here is what I have done with mine. We took off the top completely including the belt. Gave the iron base a fresh coat of black paint( looks great), and had a piece of lightly tinted tempered glass with slightly rounded corners( no sharpe edges) put on the top.The glass cutter gave us some small fancy flat fasteners to attach it to the base where the original screws held the top originally. I have it in our front foyer and use it as a table to put whatever seasonal decor I want. At Christmas time one of my larger Dept 56 Dickens Village pieces and accessories make a very nice entrance to the house.I hve also thought that a nice piece of marble on the top, would work well with the iron base perhaps in a kitchen.

I don't understand this at all, and frankly would refuse to help out my neighbors if our hospital had this stupid policy. What if you come by taxi? Does the cab driver have to stay? it makes no sense at all, and I would not do it. I can understand if there's a special reason for the colonoscopy and it's an immediate family member to be there in case it's bad news, but for a routine test? Do these hospitals make you wait if you drive someone for x-rays or an emg or a cat scan? This is nuts. ETA For my first MRI they told me to take a valium beforehand and have someone drive me, but he sure as heck didn't have to wait around.

Unless you have an non-commercial PC model, I think it's not likely to be a driver problem. More likely an update hiccup or corrupt file but you'll never find which or why.

I'd first try a system restore, if you have a restore point dating to before when your problems started. If that doesn't work, I'd do a recovery.

With either approach, I would first do backup copies of any data files you want to keep - word processing, spreadsheets or the like, photos and videos, music, etc. They should remain after a restore but not after a recovery (which wipes the disk and reinstalls the operating system). Before doing anything make a list of installed programs that might need to be reinstalled.

It has to be a driver problem.

When I am forced to take the update and the driver is messed up .. I delete the driver in the Device manager and reboot.

Windows loads a driver that works perfectly 'but' within 30 seconds deletes whatever driver it is and installs the bad driver again.

I have tried to stop this using every tool and app known to man but it can't be stopped.

There is no driver rollback option in Device manager when this happens either!

I guess that Microsoft wants to Force every aspect of the update on us!

No driver roll back,

so the next option in windows is " Last known good configuration." You might try that. Google -->Last known good configuration win 10

Or get a stand alone video card an plug it into the motherboard.

Sorry it's a laptop, you will not be able to put a stand alone video card in it.

You could reset windows 10 similar to what Elmer was saying. You reset windows 10 and choose the option to keep your files, it's a crap shoot but might be worth a try even if we know it's a driver problem. I'd also like to take a survey of others who own this model and see if they have issues.

Seven Months, endless tools, apps and suggestions for a fix ... the cursing and rollbacks have now come to an end!
YAAaaaaaaaaa!!!

For those who were wondering why I have been b!+ching for the last seven months about my display after the [b]creators update[/b], the following camera shot will give you an idea of [b]WHY[/b] the machine became almost useless!

(That is how the desktop display looked and it didn't get any better when opening web pages or reading text!)

None of the updates that were installed prior to the 1709 version allowed (on this machine) the adjustment to the bpc or [b]color depth[/b]!

The adjustment comes with the Radeon Settings that control the on board display chip.

It was pure luck that I decided to look at the settings on the updated driver after this update!

All I had to do after [b]all of these months[/b] was to change my color depth settings from 10bpc to 8bpc!

That option didn't show until this update and there was no way to change it!

Still can't understand Why I can't get php or html to work on this board!

I DID finally discover how to post photos in the exact places I needed them to be in a post!

Justme, this being a laptop, most of the devices inside are custom made for you laptop, and such, your manufacturer likely has their own versions of drivers. If you havent already, always look for updates on your pc manufacturers site including BIOS updates. They tend to work better than the default drivers installed by Microsoft. Just search for your device model on the support section of their website,
