Comments (28)I think today was the first day of the new year that we didn't get any accumulating snow. I am so sick of snow already. Here are some pics I tool a few days ago, it is kind of nice the way it looks on the trees....See MoreWe're snowed in
Comments (48)Karyn,It takes my husband 35 minutes usually but it took him a hour and a half today. He said cars were stuck and blocking the one lane plowed roads up here through out the countryside. He said it was like a snow maze trying to get to work. At the worst spots the snow was higher than his 4X4 and the road was so narrow that the mirrors were nearly scraping the snow. I did venture out today everything looked good at first but on my way home I took a different route and I am sorry I did. I thought all the roads must be in decent shape since the ones I had seen when I went into town looked ok but on the way home I had to keep turning around trying to find one I could get down with my vehicle. I still am not use to driving on these snow covered hilly roads. I am use to the flat land of MD and DE. It definitely is scarey when you start sliding down one of these hills and just pray that you will stop before going into a feild or ditch. I think I will wait till Sunday before I go out again. Comments (25)Getting out and shopping was great. It felt wonderful to be out of the house. I spent too much but who cares I wasn't stuck inside. The mall was packed but everyone was in a good mood. It seems that yesterday was the first day out for many people. I did get mail yesterday but our mailman got stuck on our road. My son and his friend had to dig him and a few others out so I didn't get mail today but the plows finally came thru!!!!!!!!! 2 big a** heavy duty plows scraped our road to the asphalt and they were careful enough not to block anyone's driveway with the plowed snow : ) : ) : ) Pam I wish I had that kind of discipline but straightening up and cleaning were not on my to do list. lol The closest I got to cleaning was doing laundry and the dishes....See MoreHolly tree question
Comments (44)Dave that is gorgeous! I was really, really tempted by a variegated green and creamy white one at an end of the year season sale but decided enough with the hollies. I already grow Nellie Stevens, Japanese, Inkberry, Blue Princess and Prince so I got an evergreen Viburnum and Osmanthus heterophyllus goshiki (which your last pic reminds me of greatly.) I used to grow Chinese Holly, one that I had purchased as a decorative indoor plant for X-mas but that one that I had was extremely prickly (enough to penetrate my gloves). Although I believe Nellie Stevens is a hybrid with Chinese Holly (only MUCH less prickly!). Question, I really don't have a thing for variegated plants generally speaking (with exceptions), but are generally less vigorous than all green ones?...See More- 6 years ago
