Sad news re Pierre Deux and my bedroom!
Comments (27)I have most likely lost close to $10,000 on a furniture order I placed on custom upholstered furniture and casegoods to furnish an entire room with Pierre Deux items. I put my deposit for the items on my AmEx card. When I received the Bankruptcy notice in the mail, it didn't mention the name, "Pierre Deux." It mentioned a name I didn't recognize in Secaucus, NJ. When intuition told me it could be Pierre Deux, I quickly notified AmEx, who credited my account, but only until they "investigate" what's going on. One of the terms in an incident such as this is that the transaction must have taken place no longer than 60 days prior to the Bankruptcy. In Chapter 7, no customers are reimbursed. Only creditors who made the goods sold by the comnpany declaring Chapter 7 Bankruptcy receive payment, and it will be a fraction of what they're owed. In fact, the legal notice I received regarding the Chapter 7 Bankruptcy stated that I should NOT file a claim. I don't know what will ultimately happen with the money I paid to Pierre Deux through AmEx, but suspect that I will lose it all. Every Pierre Deux store is closed. I don't know how it cannot be considered fraudulent to continue to take orders online, unless the Pierre Deux online "store" is a separate legal entity from the bricks-and-mortar stores. It's infuriating. I was expecting delivery of an entire room of furniture, casegoods and accessories and instead, I received their bankruptcy notice stating that they had debts totaling over $150,000,000 and assets of $10,000,000. Didn't their Chief Financial Officer see the dispararity, or was this a case of putting blinders on and bailing out quickly.? Everything in the stores and in stock will be liquidated to pay the companies who produced the products sold by Pierre Deux.I'm an interior designer and did a great deal of business with Pierre Deux. I went to another, larger furniture provider to purchase replacements for the Pierre Deux furniture I have probably paid for but will never see. Lesson: Be VERY careful before putting a deposit on anything you order. Many businesses are failing. It's truly unfortunate for the employees, unfortunate for the suppliers, and quite a shock for loyal customers....See MoreTrying to find a professional to help remodel my Master bath/bedroom .
Comments (1)I am not sure if you have Angie's List out there? We also have found that nextdoor.com is a great place for homeowners to find local contractors who have worked on their neighbor's homes (also not sure if that is outside of California). Referrals from family and friends. You can do a search on Facebook too believe it or not!...See MorePlease help me re-model my boring bedroom :)
Comments (8)can you refinish the floor yourself? you will need the orbital sander refinisher, not the one that goes in straight line. I'd save those wood floors as they will go w/the look you want. with a dark walnut stain on them, they'll look great w/the blacks/whites, wood, industrial lighting how do you want to change the closet door? can you do something w/glass? like the Ikea pax doors or something? You could do that for the doors and just paint the other on the left side. look on craigslist for a new bedroom door, or check a salvage yard for a solid slab or panel door. if you did the wall behind the bed, you'd have your own headboard. look into making your own platform bed. it's easy enough if you have some basic tools that inset area on your wall, you could do some reclaimed wood and then paint this blue or the dark charcoal paint color .you could also cut holes for industrial style sconces on your wall/headboard check craigslist for leftover wood flooring or reclaimed wood that inset spot you have is cool to do different things. for instance, look how they've done the wood across the wall, halfway, and then prob laid a LED strip light across for some cool uplighting.you could do this in grays/white, your dark floor, white curtains, white walls, and some cool art. take out that baseboard if redoing the flooring. replace w/a more modern, taller style....See Moremaster bedroom from scratch
Comments (12)Oatmeal is a versatile colour. My advice is to check the undertones. Look at it against a white sheet of paper. You don't want anything that skews too pink, too green or too this or that. It might not show up on a sample size but once you have the whole room done, you get into issues finding coordinating bedding and curtains. Here's Maria Killam's recent blog post about choosing wall to wall carpeting. And I'm sorry, I misunderstood about your master bathroom. I thought the strong green was for the walls! Then, yes, the colour difference would be jarring but if that green is on the vanity, it won't be as jarring. Play around with paint samples to find what pleases your eye. Sea Salt is quite versatile and plays well with a wide range of colours. Full size mattress is a double? There's always Queen between that a King. From what I'm seeing shopping for bedding, Queen is the more popular size for a couple's bedroom....See MoreJocelyne W
