Kitchen backsplash dilemma - no cabinets over part of countertop
Comments (7)I had a similar situation. Finding a tile I liked that came with a coordinating corner bullnose was like trying to find a unicorn. I finally “settled” for using the thinnest matching pencil tile for the tile I liked, mitering it at the corner. We matched the grout to the tile and I was pleasantly surprised that the pencil tile doesn’t “stick out” at all. I ended up loving it. The matching grout was key. If you end up with shelves or a cabinet on that side you will still need either a pencil tile or Schluter edge on the side. The Schluter isn’t my thing - a bit to modern looking for our kitchen - but you can see both types of edge in the Houzz photos....See MoreBacksplash Dilemma
Comments (1)Is what is in your niche the same as what is on the shower floor? What is on the shower floor does not look uniform enough to be a good backsplash, but see if you can get tile in the same colors (or color) to use as a backsplash. Does the shower wall tile come in a smaller size? It doesn't have to be just 4" which is normal backsplash height, nor does it have to cover the whole wall. It could go to the bottom of your mirrors if you like that. But if done thoughtfully this could actually be an attractive accent in your bathroom. I am also posting a picture where they did something completely different (textured tile). If you have a good tile setter they should be able to work with whatever - be sure to have thought about the edges before starting. Schluter trims are low profile and appropriate in a contemporary room....See MoreCabinet or Shelf. Backsplash Dilemma
Comments (11)are you getting new cabinets? do you need the space in the uppers? how are you expecting things to look? tile going to the edge of the counter since the overhang is so far out, they could have stopped the tile at the upper cab border. but it's fine either way This one has a short overhang in relation to the uppers, so stopping it here is really a personal choice. It could have been taken all the way to the edge. Here are diff looks w/tile splash going to the end, stopping at the cabs, and going all the way what I would suggest is refacing the lowers and getting some drawers. you have nothing for large storage. at least do the drawers under the stove top i had mine refaced/painted and love all of these drawers. here's taj w/white cabs gold hardware and a cool tile...See MoreCambria Everleigh backsplash dilemma.
Comments (3)I like the whiter one. It’d be good to see it with the cabinet color though. From what I’ve read, gray is on its way out....See MoreRandy Trainor
