i live in Naples FL. I gave up all my boots several winters ago!

Fashion boots, not winter boots in the South, though I do have my winter boots too that maybe do come out once a year here. No, I would not wear opaques with those shoes, but they are cute.

If you have boots, Friday may be your only chance to wear them. ( forecast says 60s on Friday.) :)

I have a pair of black booties but they are a bit too casual for the dress.

Believe it or not these are Clarks shoes and they are pretty comfortable for me as I have a myriad of foot and toe problems, i.e. big toe arthritis and bunions. They are suede so they are a bit forgiving.

I have been applying self tanner in case I forgo the tights. The dress is north of the 3 inch above the knee rule.

I think I am hung up on my age-53 and trying to pull off a too young look or a Real Housewives look! The dress does follow the rule of short on bottom and covered on top!

Those shoes don't look like they 'go' with tights or any type of hose. If your legs are in good shape and not pasty I'd go bare.

Pasty? I’ve got the ‘so pale I am my own light source in an otherwise pitch dark room’ thing going on, and when it’s not freezing I don’t care if my skin blinds people, I’m wearing shorts and mini skirts/above the knee.

OP, I’d forgo the tights, make sure to wear undies. (There are plenty of women I’ve encountered who wear mini skirts but nothing under...!)

I think I understand where you are coming from. Heels will make a 'too" short dress seem even shorter.

I think you are better off with a shoe with a lower heel to wear with this particular dress.

I do agree that over 50 you need to be aware of what is age appropriate. I know this can become a whole other thread, but I think those of us in our 50's and 60's realize we have to tone it down a bit when it comes to skirt lengths.

True that, eld! I cannot imagine anybody wanting to look @ my spider veins, sunspots & cellulite, so I do not go for the long-bare-legged look when dressing up.

I would not wear those shoes with black tights. Either wear closed toe and closed heel shoes or get a spray tan.

Would you consider ankle length black leggings under the dress? A lot depends on the style of the dress and local climate - definitely past open toe season where I live.

You might also consider the possibility of buying new shoes that you could wear tights with...

Who the heck wears tights in south florida!! Spray tan or self tanner. What is the event? Get some Spanx or something similar.

Sheer black hose is making a come back but I don't care for hose or tights with sandals.

I have worn compression shorts under a skirt/dress when I want to make sure not to expose anything. It makes me feel completely comfortable which translates to a more confident look.

I don't think tights would like right with those shoes and would not wear them together.
