These trees have a mind of their own. They can produce branching when an inflo is not even aware it is supposed to be there..LOL Just give it time, fertilize and give full sun annd you should see inflos hopefully this season. Remember some of go for years before we see anything. That is why we are so happy to finslly see these works of nature..giving us a beautiful show for all of our hard work. Hi Iowaj and all, yes, feels odd, .I have been there so many times. Wanted my plants to bloom so bad. When mine wer't blooming, I bought one that was..so at least I had flowers to look at and show.. I am really looking forward to one plumie to bloom only about 2 1/2'tall, has a small inflo coming. When I got it was about 8 to 10" tall then, with a short V trunk in the ground, rooted, had bloomed. It got black claws in the freeze 2006, seemed to jump start it to grow. , now has about 18" long branches. Went to transplant it in spring, the roots are tiny and thin, but very long..so put it in the ground. All I know on this plant my neighbor, who is a gardner, gave me his wifes plant, made her very angry..Went and got it from the back yard. He insisted I take it, I felt odd..she did not speak to me for a year. SO>>>what is this flower??? Plant is flourshing in the ground..wannna see that bloom. Karen B

I don't have a lot of experience with them myself, but it should root for you. I would dip it into some rooting hormone, and try rooting it in a nice light soil with not too much moisture. Maybe remove some of the lower leaves so its not trying to make roots and keep foliage alive. I'm sure you'll get some really good advice here though, from others who have more experience rooting them. It won't die overnight, what you're doing now will keep it going for a while.

Sorry, but no, I must pls. disagree. I'd guess that peaty mix is rotting the roots off, & needs to be changed. Haws are vulnerable to root rot already & leaving it on that bad mix invites further rot. Once the rot climbs the roots to the base of the plant, it's all over, the whole thing will collapse, sorry. Pls. buy some cactus & succulent mix & also perlite, mix the 2 50/50 & plant in that. Otherwise, if you leave that plant on that mix, especially if you bury the roots, it's unlikely to make it. Better to water plants earlier in the day so they can have the warmer day to take it up. Do not water this plant until you correct the soil; repot then wait another week.
