Favorite Cascading Spiders/UFs?
Comments (22)Most of my favorites are in other people's gardens (like Pam's!) I have to agree that 'Spider Miracle' is a good choice, beautiful blooms for a low price.(these spiders can get really costly) Pam, loved the pics in particular the shot of 'Bark at Me' with the Crocosmia as I added some to my primary daylily bed this year. Nice new addition to my reds and yellows! OT but do you dig your corms for winter? I'm in southern Ohio and for the cost I'm considering leaving mine in the ground but then again I'll be digging glads etc. Loving 'Dark Monkey', a clump shot would be fantastic if you find one. Comments (17)Thanks! I've looked for a picture of WILD HORSES and BROWN WITCH growing together and can't seem to find it. They look nice growing side by side! At any rate, here are a few more under the "S" category! SUGAR PLUM JAM by Bobbie Brooks: STELLAR STAR is not very tall ( about 27" I think) and it grows in the front of a spider bed. It really showed off this summer. SNOW CRAB by my buddy Pat Cochenour was a real favorite this season. This is a cute little 4" bloom! STAR POLY didn't bloom last year so I really looked forward to its bloom this year. This is by my Region 3 friend Don Herr - high percentage of polymerous blooms and boy can you see these big blooms across the garden! The quintessential spider and this year's Stout Medal winner, SKINWALKER! And another new to the garden one by Margo Reed - I really like her SASKATOON:...See More2011 Seedlings (UF's & Spiders)
Comments (13)Thanks all ... I find it interesting that so many of you like #2 ... I've been growing this one for quite a few years, and have been undecided about it. I pulled the 1st 5 out of a crowded seedling bed and planted each one in the gardens with plenty of room to grow. I'm hoping #2 is not a leaner .. it's a tall daylily and does have some unusual flowers .... #1 bloomed like this in 2010, and I really love this shape. I'm hoping since I now gave it room, it will have this shape .. #3 - this is a sib to #3 ... I'm trying to decide if I like one better than the other: #3 again ... a different shot: #5 I was going to register this year, but I forgot to measure it to see if it was possibly a spider. It's a MLate bloomer, and just starts to bloom when everything else is just past peak ... a good trait! Thanks for your comments....See MoreFavorite spiders and UF part TWO,
Comments (43)Signet Primrose Moth is 24 inches, also a smaller flower. My preference is the 22-28 inches. I have a big crowd of the back-of-the-border types, which is the favoured height it seems, but for me, I don't want them all at the back. I have too many tall daylilies, delphinium, phlox, culver's root, bee balm and shasta daisies etc. lol, here I need to fill in the middle, lol. How tall is Time Stopper? Don't know for sure, but guess where it is - at the back of the garden, lol. It is not real tall, but around 33-36 inches. It is taller than Neon Flamingo, which is beside it. Interesting, I just looked both up and Neon Flamingo is supposed to be 35 and Time Stopper 33. In my yard, Time Stopper is the taller one, and holds its scapes up very well, and is the better plant. I have it in a bit of shade, and it is doing very well....See Morehoosier_nan (IN z5b/6a)
