I am currently looking for a see through gas fireplace. I want a tv above it but not as high as most people have. Can it be low enough where is is almost like being on a tv stand?

The reason people have their TV's so high is because fireplaces require specific clearances to combustibles. If your TV sits too close to the fireplace, it could start a fire, or at the very least: warp and ruin your expensive TV.

Find another wall for your TV - they really weren't built to withstand the heat from a fireplace.

Thank you. Makes much sense and after reading other comments I found after I posted my question, I am not going on I put above fireplace.

Thank you for replying :) Even if we could, taking out blocks wouldn't really help. The wall is block, the fireplace butts right up to the wall. I understand the installers have limited options but I would rather return the TV then live with an ugly wire cover going across the front of the fireplace. We may be able to drill through the wall to outside. But that would take a lot of wire and I'm not sure it's feasible.

With the soot on your fireplace are you sure you want the TV there? Heat may void the warranty and most times the TV will be too high. If you are not going to use the fireplace your plan is good...I would paint it your wall color but not convinced it is the place for the TV.

My TV is above my fireplace, and it's a bad spot. You have to crane your neck or support it to look up. TVs are better placed lower down to the floor.
