Your most beautiful orchid plant - not flower
Comments (31)Kevin says, "Whitecat - What a beautiful phal! Who would have thought that possible? (just kidding folks)" Uh, Kevin, which part was kidding, huh? The "beautiful" remark or your ridiculous question? Better watch it - the angry Phal gods might Kevin the Pholidota chinensis while you're fast asleep. Clint, thanks for the info on the Cassandra. I rummaged around on the Big Leaf site and found it. Do you have one? I was thinking beautiful foliage earlier. For entire plants, yes, the Neos. Also, the Dendrobium moniliformes. With or without leaves or flowers, they remind me of bonsai. If you squint just right, you see an entire forest. Plus, knowing they've been cultivated at least 1700 years gives them an aura of tranquility. Here's a novel one - Neofinetia falcata x Paraphalaenopsis serpentilingua. Mine hasn't bloomed, but the plant is lovely. So many of everyone's faves are unfamiliar to me, and it's fun looking them up. Whitecat8...See MoreLola and Carmelo are back!!!
Comments (7)Laura, Cindeea, Felix, Kate, Gary, and Katkin, Thanks for remembering them. Cindee, so nice of you to include them as part of the GW family! I definitely feel that way. Kate, Goldenpond is the one with the pet black and white ducks. She had 3 before the bobcat visit. Gary, I haven't really found them to be destructive. They would be worth a little destruction, though. I find the large turtles to be more destructive, as they chew up the waterlilies when they are here. The area around the pond seemed to fare the best in my yard. The philodendrons that hang over and into the water did well, while the others are yellow and dropping leaves like crazy. I have lots of defoliation and brown/crispy stuff. However, I think most if not all will survive. Time will tell. Anna...See MoreUPDATE: Houseplants/Tropicals/Annuals - 1 more day to sign up!!

Comments (18)Settings it on the paper towel definitely helped. The soil feels soft, like its hydrated but not quite dry yet. The plant came right out of the pot with no resistance so I took that opportunity to thoroughly check for mites (as I know that can cause droopiness too and it doesn't hurt to check). Seems fine on that front, as I expected. I'm guessing it's drooping and scrunched up in the center because it was too wet? Grabbed a pic of the plant outside the pot, just in case that'd be helpful....See More- 6 years ago
