What would you do? Needing help with exterior update!
Comments (8)The brick and the window are lovely, is that leaded glass? If it were my home I would not change anything about the homes exterior and would focus instead entirely on landscape/hardscape. First I'd stop shearing the shrubs and let them return to a more natural open look. I'd remove a portion of the lawn and extend the front entrance area into a courtyard, with a short wall or fence, add a stone bench and a low fountain, maybe a bubbler. Then I'd add a curved plant lined pathway through the yard to the front door. I'd finish with outdoor lighting throughout the planted areas, with "up light" on the largest shrubs....See MoreHow far would you go on this update? What do you recommend?
Comments (17)$30k is an insane cost for a bathroom so small. Even paying a contractor to do the work with modest finishes, but good quality, will run between $8k and $12k. Especially if the fixtures stay in the same location and only get exchanged for new. An architect is always a good investment. An architect will help you with design ideas, can curate material, fixture and finish choices based on your tastes and can oversee the work being done by the contractor to ensure that everything is done properly, up to code, and according to design. The average homeowner is not equipped to adequately oversee a contractor's work. I've had so many clients come to me after a botched renovation because they didn't understand the contractor was taking short cuts and it cost them thousands more to fix. All time and money that would have been saved had they had a professional licensed architect working for them and protecting their interests. Classic Comfort, de nada. You're very welcome. I'll send you a private message here shortly. Thank you....See MoreCurb appeal update: what would you do? HELP!
Comments (13)No, what will tie it all together needs to be the color. And then a bit more landscaping. Here, I fixed the rest of the shutters and picked a color that was taken from your bricks and a bit farther from the roof. The white trim is unifying too. I personally would find a lighter color for the front door so that it wasn't lost in its cave, but you may be attached to the wood look. Just some thoughts....See MoreWHAT IF YOU WERE GIVEN THIS HOME? WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
Comments (7)Hi, Jen, my condolences on the loss of your grandmother. I think you’d get a lot more advice on the busier boards, such as Home Decorating and Design Dilemmas. I’d post this on those boards. Your pictures didn’t show up … this site can be glitchy. When you post a new thread, try posting your photos in the comments. Make sure they look clear, and not grayed out, before submitting. Good luck with your house. :)...See MoreDenita
