My table is 45 by 64 without leaves.....seats 6 easily and 8 if extra show up at the last minute. It has 2 15 or 16 inch leaves making it seat 10. My dining room is 12 by 12 but there is an arch into the living room so it appears open. also have a very large chest that stores dishes, a 42 by 45 drop leaf table in the corner with both leaves down, used as a server with one leaf flipped up, a very small corner cupboard and a small 4 drawer chest used for linens.... It's not crowded....except when the table is opened and I dig up 4 extra chairs from another room. I think rectangular tables are best for small rooms.....with a large round table, there is a huge area that is unuseable. People tend to use the 14 or 15 inches around the edges of a table....and the center is for flower arrangements, candles and condiments.

Plants? Yes, we have plants. Their condition varies. Some of the orchids were plucked from their pots as they had innocently enjoyed a peaceful time outside during the summer. We found *most* of them in various states of mangle-ment. The ONLY water lilly we had is missing. We have the basket.... shredded ... no gravel that was in it or any sign that some kind of planty thing ever lived inside it. Water lettuce needed to be thinned over the last week too. Three azaleas are, uh, made ready for the compost pile. A variegated Japanese Maple was pruned to form a bonsai which we really lacked in the back yard! There are four empty pots in the yard. What was in them? I honestly do not know! Spider lily ... vanished! We do have duckweed! :-) Pets are Relaxing! Going to asphalt the Camp Nappy campgrounds next year. :*-(

The coffee table, chairs and sofa should definitely stay. They are the best pieces in the room and are well suited and well scaled for the space. The reason I don't care for the armoire is that is a large, bulky piece that doesn't accomplish anything other than hiding the t.v. IKEA's Besta can be custom configured to meet your needs for t.v. and book storage. I agree with you that the console table doesn't work under the window. I think that window is better suited to some lovely drapes. A linen drape would be pretty on the windows. It's from RugsUSA. Some people say they don't like the feel of jute because it's not soft, but I like the way it feels. I think you need to add some other lighting as well. Perhaps an end table with a table lamp to the left of the sofa and a floor lamp to the right. I love your choice of accent colors. Once you get the t.v. and book display situation down, I think pulling the rest together will be simple.
