Weather Shield Sliding Patio Doors vs. Andersen 400 Series Glider
Comments (14)When I built my home 23 years ago the contractor would only install Weathershield products. I asked him to switch to Pella but he refused. He stated that the weathershield products were far superior to all other brands. I should have "FIRED" that builder. I allowed him to build my house and use the best wood and exterior clad doors and windows that they had at that time The Weathershield windows and especially the 4 section sliding patio door have been a disaster. We had numerous problems and the factory people and their REPS were a joke. We have lived with our bad decision since our house was built. I can't attest to the quality of their products today but when we bought them 23 years ago it was our biggest mistake....See MoreHelp! I need to reverse Andersen 400 sliding door.
Comments (10)You might start by contacting Anderson and talking to their tech folks. A local dealer might also have some insight for you. Then have a talk with your architect. Worse case you might have to sell the new door and bite the bullet on another one. I spoke to Andersen and they "don't recommend" replacing the panels. As I said above, if we can get new panels to work (seal and operate properly), I'd sooner give up the warranty than start pulling off trim etc. The exterior trim will never re-install as cleanly....See MoreAndersen Emco 400 storm door. Comments (10)If you read their warranty they cover everything for 10 yrs, and Hardware for 1 year. DOOR FRAME: EMCO Enterprises, Inc. (EMCO) warrants the door frame, hinges, and painted finish on EMCO® storm door products to be free from defects in manufacturing, materials, paint adhesion, or workmanship, under normal use, for ten (10) years or as long as the original consumer purchaser owns the home in which the door was initially installed, whichever is shorter. COMPONENTS: EMCO warrants the non-glass and non-insect screen fabric components of EMCO® storm doors (including brass and nickel hardware finish and the mechanical functions of locksets, closers, windows and insect screens) to be free from defects in manufacturing, materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original retail purchase or for as long as the original consumer purchaser owns the home in which the door was initially installed, whichever is shorter. Kick panel retention within the frame is not covered under this warranty....See MoreOpinions on Windsor Pinnacle vs. Andersen (400 and A-Series) PS Loewen
Comments (5)Thanks WoW! I don’t need a wood window. Only requirement is black exterior. Windsor and Andersen were easy options because my Framing company carries them. Loewen (unfortunately out of budget) is from an independent installer/dealer who also carries Andersen, Lincoln, and Provia. What are your top choices in the Windsor/Andersen budget range? I’m open to another brand/material but these are the things that have been holding me up: I have a full light front entry door with sidelights and transom. There are also three sliders (2 three panel, and 1 lg 8x12 four panel). It’s hard to find showrooms that have similar floor models to test out. Would like them to operate well and feel solid. Same with front door. I’d like it to “feel” like a front door and not a “patio” door. Know what I mean? Installation company. Was hoping to have sales and install from one company. From the forum, I see that Marvin Integrity would be a wise choice, but I sent a bid to a dealer/installer and what I got back had so many errors and took so long to receive, I didn’t feel comfortable moving forward. Is it best to blanket all Marvin dealers with a bid request and see who rises to top? Or another brand that you recommend? I’m in Pittsburgh. Thanks....See Morecheri127
