what do you think of the new hypertension guidelines

After reading the article about osteopenia I couldn't help but think about someone's desire to prescribe more medication though I don't really think that's the case. And I'm not down on big pharma as I wouldn't be alive today without it.

It is one of those things though that seems to be decided somewhat arbitrarily. I believe I heard one decision was made in 2014 and now it's changing.

For what it's worth I've taken some kind of HBP medication since shortly after menopause. Exercise and sodium restriction just didn't do the trick. In light of the new guidelines I was happy to hear mine was 118/68 yesterday (with medication). My mid-50's BIL has HBP, apparently wasn't taking his meds and now has some kidney damage. He's fit, trim and physically active. I think in his case and mine we are victims of heredity.
