Cat's eye manicure

Has anyone done this? I took my niece to get a manicure the other day and we saw this option. They put a small magnet over the nail to draw the cat's eye line out. I love it!

I don't want to tell you what I thought when I saw this...Manicuring a cat's eye? Whew! Glad it didn't involve a feline but nails.

never mind, they are tersa sphinx cats, SO COOL! Unfortunately they prefer pentas and we have no such thing. Lucky I drove by when I did, my mom was literally peeling them off her ravaged plants and throwing them in the street. I took all nine of them home with me. They are very large so I am thinking they are nearing cocooning. I am not sure what I am going to do with them, either drop them off at a nearby nature center where I know there are some flowering plants, or maybe just give them some dirt and see what happents. Why not call the other Vet and ask? It may be that time is of importance and the other eye could have the same problem if this one isn't treated right away. It would be helpful to know what causes this.

Eld, there must be due to using the magnet but I didn't ask. Rita, you're welcome! Nicole, thanks. It's twisted so you can't see the whole thing. I'll post a better picture. Je, lol. How do you do anything with nails like that? I had mine cut with the manicure because they were too long and I couldn't put jewelry on. Rita, if you do try it they are a tad more expensive, probably because of the special polish and having to individually magnet every finger. They were 10.00 more.

That would not be something I would do, but it's interesting. I keep my nails softly rounded and buffed for shine. When I do use polish, I opt for nude, buff, and pink shades. Boring, I know. ;-)

Thanks, Nicole. Yes, it's about a carat. I don't usually go for such a wild color, but I was with my 25 year old niece, I think she influenced me ha ha. She got a beautiful dark brown and the cat eye stripe was golden. Very pretty.

Oh you should always do a wild color on your nails...I used to regularly do ombre on my own. It's very easy to diy.

Teal was my color of choice...

Rock Hounds are familiar with this effect, as found in tiger eye.

When the stone is tipped, the light band travels across the stone. It is due to tightly bundled asbestos fibers encased the the chalcedony stone.

Its the same effect that forms a star sapphire although the 'fibers' are from a different source. Usually, the sapphire star is 6 rayed. Only a few sapphires will star. It has to do with the internal structure of the crystal and a sapphire has to be cabbed in the proper direction for the star to show. The star only shows when the crystal is viewed vertically to its "C" axis.
