I'm replacing our foyer lighting and would appreciate some help. The room measures 12 x 13 and I would guess it is about 20 ft tall. Or do you have other suggestions? I'd like to keep the price reasonable too. As far as style goes, my kitchen has the pb hundi lantern and bd montessart chandelier. I think the lantern will have more "mass" than a chandelier because you can define the shape of it quite easily in a visual sense. I would definitely not go with the 30x30. A chandelier can carry a 30" diameter in a smaller space because there is a lot of negative space or airspace around the parts that are Not 30" if you know what I mean. The lantern defines a relatively solid object. I would probably hang it lower than the chandelier pictured, as well, depending on the headroom.

Janet hahaha, I will definitely be having a professional install this! Thanks for the tip! Flo Mangan the height of the space is 18ft, and the width is 10.5ft, and the length at it's shortest would be around 8ft. Ideally I would like to stay below $1,000.

Not cable or track but rail lighting, go to www.techlighting.com They have the best rail in the biz as far as I am concerned. that being said you will only need one of the power sources for that . So this means by the front door you can still drop an entry fixture!! let me know if you need help sorting it out, it will not be a cheap project but it will be much much better than cable or track, you will have options galore!
