What is the style of my new old house?
Comments (13)Thank you all so much for the information. :) I don't think there were any built-ins as I've seen no evidence anywhere. The original owners removed a pair of doors between the parlor and what we call the living room and those doors are still in the basement as is any hardware they changed out over the years. So I think they would have left the built-ins if there were any. Also they raised 4 children to adulthood and lost a young daughter in the house so I'm sure they needed every bit of space they had! I've posted a few pics of the interior. If anyone is interested I can post more later. I kind of thought it was a bungalow/craftsmen. Thanks for helping me clear that up. I want to know as much as I can about the house, because this is my forever house. The gypsy has found her home at last! lol I love this house and am immensely enjoying learning her mysteries. I've posted a pic of a little white building we call the school house (original owner was a teacher and there is rumor that she held school there.)However, I wonder if it was a summer kitchen. It too has its own brick chimney with flue. Thanks again everyone! Have a great weekend! :)...See MoreDon't want to stay true to my house's style .. Advice on exter. update
Comments (2)I suggest you post this on the Home Decorating forum. You will get alot more feedback than you'll get here. A colonial is not a craftsman. A bungalow is a 1 or 1 1/2 story house - not a 2 story. Craftsman homes don't have attached garages. There will be lots you can do to update this house. However, don't force it into something it's not. And don't be married to the trendy non-colors that some say are popular today ie greige. Colors of nature are always best for homes in wooded settings. head on over to Home Decorating:)...See Morei want Lawn setting ideas in my new house.
Comments (1)Jerry, pictures, diagrams or sketches/plans are an absolute necessity to generate any meaningful help. Need to know your location as well. And there is a specific Lawn Care forum you can reach out to if that is more what you are looking for. "designing a lawn" is somewhat mysterious and uninformative phrasing as a lawn is usually what is left after designing or planning all the rest of the landscaping :-)...See MoreNew home, already modeled, but not my style
Comments (35)I didn't actually use anything fancy. I used Benjamin Moore's Personal Color Viewer for the wall paint and the pillows (the app is perfectly happy to paint any object that you define as a surface, even if it is unpaintable in real life). Rugs USA and eSale rugs both have online rug visualizer tools that do the heavy lifting of putting the rug "under" your furniture; you just need to size the rug correctly and rotate it the way you want. I did the table settings in Word--that required a bit more experience and trickery, but the image tools are there if you know where to look....See MoreKate H.
