Kitchen paint color dilemma!

So we’re remodeling our kitchen to sell our house. We went with what I think are neural designs - white cabinets, grayish granite that has red flecks and some areas that are slightly greenish. The backsplash will be white oversized subway tile with light grey grout. The floor is a warm brown. The existing paint is a golden yellow. Should we repaint the walls a different shade? I thought grey but the house house right now is grey. Any thoughts? Thanks!

The freshness of the new granite makes the yellow look particularly dated and like an unfinished project. I agree with a nice gray.

repose grey by delux! its a nice warm grey and will go well with the flooring and the cabinets, countertop and backsplash.

I like the colour it is - too much grey sometimes can be too much grey. Just one opinion ...

I think the paint color looks nice! You might try to live with it for awhile and see if it still bothers you. Paint is very tricky as you know. After our office and guest room had been painted I panicked and almost stopped the progress because I thought it was too dark. I decided to live with my decision and now I love the paint color. Once we got the furniture in and accessories it changed the whole look and I love it. Any chance you can get a picture of the rest of the kitchen at another time of day, it might give us a little better idea of what might work. But I still think it looks nice as is.

My3dogs, yes I’ve changed my mind on the turquoise, or at least this ribbon. :) Yes, I agree. With chalk painted cabinets I don’t care for the ribbon with it. But if the cabinets were solid white and the walls pale turquoise, I’d like it. I just don’t want white. In my experience white cabinets don’t hold up as well. Pale gray may work. But again, this ribbon would be like putting chrome next to brushed nickel. ;) When I say farmhouse, I’m not going for full out farmhouse look. Just a nod.

Visited BM with wallpaper sample. Staff suggested Antique Jade which looked reasonable in store but reads too mint in kitchen on sample board. So I tried BM Color Capture feature on their app, snap photo of darker green in wallpaper and then selected paler color down the spectrum. BTW, feature was accurate using iPhone, not so much with iPad. Ended up with Grey Mirage which I’ll sample this weekend. Interesting that it looks sort of mushroom which was what I was going for months ago before going green. It’s a journey.

Maybe one of the taupy colors cut 50% would work with the conter for sure and you jst need one that works with the gray in the rest of the rooms.

Since the rest of the house tends toward gray - which people are still loving - maybe you could do a greenish-gray to bring out the green tones in the granite! Or you could be bold and pull out a burgundy/reddish tone!

I'm not sure the yellow is working -- I'd pick a counter tone to play up, whether that's a gray or a blue or a taupe. Burgundy is not for resale times. :)

Our consensus leans towards a warm-toned gray which keeps the space neutral as not to clash with other surfaces and accents within the space. It will also help create flow throughout the home if other rooms are trending in gray tones. Best of luck with your project!

Great advice above. When selling your house you want to keep things light and fresh and neutral so that you appeal to a great number of people. Pick a grey/off white (look at BM's Off White Collection as there are a lot of great colors in there to choose from) that goes well with the undertones of your counter top and will also look good with the flooring.
