First, invest in a large piece of art for above the couch. It should have the cranberry hues in it to match the wall (if you're keeping the dark paint/wallpaper). You should have throw cushions to tie in the cranberry too, and I'd consider an area rug over the carpeting. Not a fan of the bright red plant pot, change it to something in the brown tones.

Ditto to Cara's suggestions. You might also want to look for more substantial draperies. Perhaps a pattern or stripe to pull the colors together.

I feel you'd be happiest if you replaced your upholstery. Your accent wall, plant stands and chandelier are more transitional and your upholstery is quite modern. If that's in the budget I would start there. Possibly a sofa paired with 1-2 accent chair/s in lieu of a loveseat. I also agree with Cara Lewis-Watts on the accent pillows. Good luck!

You might consider two or three pieces of artwork over the sofa, an end table with a lamp on the left side of the sofa and a floor lamp on the right, and a coffee table that doesn't match the tv stand so closely. Maybe a round or oval glass and metal table or printed ottoman. I would put a large piece of artwork on the bare wall to the left of the sofa.

It's up to you if you like the mauve accent wall, but I would paint the whole room in a pale gray or soft beige. If you like the accent wall, you could make it a darker gray or beige to match the other walls. I would remove the red tiebacks from the curtains and replace the ceiling fixture with something more current.

I can't decide how I feel about the plant stand. Maybe put the plant in a larger pot that isn't red (it clashes with the mauve wall) and set it on the floor in front of the window in that corner. Might look nice with a floor lamp back there. Would the floor vase with plant fit to the right of the tv stand?

I would begin with end tables and lamps, removal of blinds, and fuller drapes than can be opened/closed easily.

You have no art! I would have a painting over the sofa and one on the white wall , at least. Some big candle holders or a bowl or books on the coffee table.

Also, try the love seat in front of the white wall instead of blocking the view and the light.

Mushroom sofa seems good repeated in same tone of coffee table. Grey sofa is another neutral. Art that basically has the colors would be great. Idk about the spicy color pot. The wall can go toward earthy, you think? [like mushroom!] but with lettuce throw on chair.... just ideas.

If you lack windows, maybe some sheen like this?

What color is the carpet? Beige or pink.

I think I would use a framed black and white piece over sofa... a print, photograph - something to that effect.

I think the space looks good just with the addition of black and white art.

I agree with Beverly, try moving the loveseat against this wall and move the sofa down. Try some modern elements with metals that give some shine to the space. The walls and furniture already have good texture, so add some fun bling. Have fun and share when you are done!

Good start but adding more accessories and various pieces would help a lot. I would replace the curtains as well as possibly invest in sofas that are less bulky. This will open up the space a lot more. With sleek sofa pieces, you can add more accessories such as throw pillows and blankets without having the space feel overcrowded.

I would also add more art pieces on the walls, end tables, table lamps and various decor. A smaller coffee table or perhaps a glass one would fit the space nicely. A center piece over top would also add a nice touch.

Purplish tones like your wall can be very sophisticated when used with neutral colors. If you tape a piece of white paper on on the wall and then take a photo of it in daylight and night, we'll have a better idea of the true color. Different light bulbs and different computer screens can cause colors to look off, and the white paper gives us a baseline.

If you don't want to spend a lot on decor, second hand stores are a great resource. People get tired of stuff, or move, and their things no longer look right.

I'm also a fan of spray paint. If a picture frame, or maybe a large bowl/platter for your coffee table, is the right size and shape, it can be any color you want including metallic. It could be something from a resale store or something that you already have in another room. The new spray paints will stick to just about anything.
