This will be the first time in over 40 years that we will be going out for Thanksgiving dinner, so I guess it will be a surprise! As long as there is good bread dressing I'll be happy.

I usually make rolls. I love biscuits, but they get cold & hard too fast

None of the above at my family dinner :-)) For such a carb-heavy meal (mashed potatoes, dressing, yams or sweet potatoes, desserts) my family is not inclined to include another carbohydrate!!

It's Thanksgiving....we are all about carbs!
We always have rolls, Mrs Avery's rolls....which is a recipe from a 1910 Fanny Farmer cookbook....
And we also have Stuffing and mashed potatoes and scalloped oysters and a fruit salad.....and collapse into a carb coma, only to rouse a little later for some pie!

No bread with the meal; that's reserved for sandwiches later.

We enjoy rolls with dinner on Thanksgiving. The recipe is simply titled Dinner Rolls from the Complete Book of Breads by Bernard Clayton, Jr. I make them in the crescent and fan tan shapes.

We usually have parker house rolls, but this year I'm doing a little Thanksgiving for the old folks and wasn't planning any. It occurs to me, since you asked, that if the picky eater comes, he might like a roll....

LOL!! Just can't eat that much at a single meal so why waste it on something you can have any other day of the year?? I'd rather fill up on the turkey and trimmings....skip the breads!!

But the bread is to get every last bit of the cranberries and the gravy! Not to mention all the little bits of dressing!

Yeast rolls!

Always rolls. Not always eaten at dinner - They are a requirement for leftover turkey 'sandwiches' at bedtime (we eat around 2 PM on holidays), or for the next morning.

As much as I love yeasty rolls, we are in the no more starch at Thanksgiving camp. Between potatoes, sweet potatoes and bread dressing, we could not possibly eat bread.

I won't be hosting this year, but if I were, I'd be making a limited amount of muffins or biscuits. And probably wouldn't eat either. I'd be focused on eating turkey and veggies, and a great dressing/stuffing with gravy and giblets.

I simply don't enjoy excess carbs.

It's yeast rolls here, the grandkids love them and will pass up potatoes for homemade rolls. Either Grandma's Farmhouse White or Sol's Honey Rolls are good by them, as long as there's plenty of butter. Any left after dinner are used for the next day's turkey sandwiches.

I make honey wheat knots w/ lots of butter.

I always make some refrigerator yeast rolls and bake a few for the dinner and have dough left over for a couple more small fresh-baked batches over the next few days.

Rolls and breads. I bake pumpkin bread, and DIL bakes yeast rolls, or my sister brings her favorite from La Brea Bakery.

I would be most apt to eat a nice yeast roll with butter after dinner instead of a dessert. I'm not much on sweets. We have a local bakery that makes yeast sweet potato rolls, and those are delicious.

Normally we don't eat any of the above, but Anglo raved about Sister Shubert's dinner rolls in another thread, so I'm going to try those.

Always homemade hot rolls. I try new recipe all the time looking for the one that looked at tasted like the ones my Mom made. Neither me nor my sister got the recipe from her. Lindac92, would you mind sharing the recipe for Mrs. Avery's rolls from the Fannie Farmer Cookbook. Maybe it is the one that Mom made. I seem to recall that she did have a Fannie Farmer Cookbook. I sure would appreciate it if you could do so. Thanks in advance.

Rolls! Sister Schubert rolls, to be exact. Yummy! It's not a meal without hot bread!
