How to replace caulk between tub and tile?

Our bathroom was remodeled about 1 1/2 years ago and has only been used about a dozen times. However the caulk wasn't done properly where the tub meets the wall and I need to redo it. I tried once by "patching" it but I need to remove it all.

What specific caulk do you recommend? Also, should I fill the tub with water first to make it heavier and not "pull apart" from the caulk? The caulk is very hard/crunchy--should I use something that stays moist/soft?

The tub is a lightweight/inexpensive one (porcelain over steel?) definitely not cast iron.

Any recommendations are appreciated. We can let this dry for many days/weeks as it won't be used for about five weeks.

Thank you!
