Electrolux French Door refrigerators with no door dispenser
Comments (0)Electrolux is about to release a new FD refrigerator with no in-door ice/water dispenser. It will come in 4 models -- 2 CD and SD. The differences are two have LED lighting and the Perfect Temp door just like the "Wave Touch". Since the controls are inside the doors on all 4 models, there is no "wave touch" model per se. I haven't been able to determine if the ice in the freezer is their "Perfect Ice'. Electrolux told me that the product is entering production and will be available this quarter; then they said by Dec 1. I'm struggling with whether I can wait that long or not... The new models are not yet on the Electrolux site, but AJMadison does have info on them, including pics. Beware that some of the specs they list are suspect, such as the same cubic feet as the model with the dispensers, yet they say the newer ones are 2" shallower. Also, some of the detailed specs are contradicted elsewhere on their site. But it's a start and probably mostly accurate. Here's a link to all of the Electrolux FD at ajmadison: http://www.ajmadison.com/b.php?Ntt=electrolux+french+door&x=0amp;y=0amp;Nty=1 You can order the new models at some dealers, but Lowes doesn't yet have them in their system. They think that may change this week. FWIW, I wrote a few months ago about ruling out the Electrolux FD because of the open-wire freezer doors. I have re-evaluated that, and I really like the Perfect Temp drawer and the 3-shelf freezer (Wave-Touch models). But the final swaying point was the stainless sides. AFAIK, Electrolux is the only manufacturer that "wraps" a standard depth FD in stainless. Due to my configuration, I can't use a CD box. Comments (31)Are you still working on this? I have questions about more than the fridge. This is an awkward layout and there is enough space there that I think you must have better options. Have you looked at moving the dining room entry to the right? Shifting an opening is not a huge ordeal, even if that is a load bearing wall (not sure if it is but someone mentioned the possibility in an earlier post). I'll try to post something mocked up best my crude skills allow here. As I have it, I think that would be a 36" fridge and there is a pinch point. I'm not sure of the depth there, but with a counter depth, an 18" DW or some other tweaks with proper measurements, I think you could improve the function of the space. On the dining room side, any crown would remain or be replaced above the opening and a good contractor should be able to adjust the baseboards. Keep working the plan until you get the kinks out. I lived with two horrible kitchens (we're talking 2 burners and they aren't flat or heat that well, dying ovens, DW tiled in and praying it wouldn't die -- even though it was so loud I hated to run it) for ten years between the two of them until I was able to do my kitchen. I learned a lot along the way and had time to explore outside the box ideas, come back and go off in different directions. All that exploration really paid off in the end, and I plan to use it long enough to make up for any delays. Anyway, here's one rough idea in case you hadn't though of it....See MoreFrench door Refrigerators vs single door?
Comments (12)I have a Bosch counter depth French Door w/two freezer drawers - model B21CL81SNS. I have only had it for about 5 months. It replaced my side by side with water on the door. I love the look and initially missed the water on the door but I put it on the door inside in a filter pitcher so if I want water I just open the one door and reach in. The only time I open both doors is when needed. Most of the time I open one side or the other - this is due to how I place items in the refrigerator. I do like the two drawers as I put all the stuff the kids would want in the top freezer drawer. Inside it has 3 drawers that work well. The one that runs from one side to the other has a movable divider. I do have a secondary freezer in another location for items not needed daily. I could have saved some money buying scratch/dint item but it was not the model I wanted. This dent was on the side which would have been seen as I have the two refrigerator panels Please remember if going french door measure twice - (height and side to side taking into account any space needed around the refrigerator when planning remodel. I found some of the new refrigerators are very big....See MoreNew Refrigerator needed to replace my LG french door refrigerator.
Comments (4)We replaced our side by side refrigerator (old GE, replaced with Whirlpool) with another side by side, and am not pleased with it. Mainly because the doors do not open as wide as the old one. The ice maker in the freezer works good but when the automatic defrost takes place, the cubes melt a little and sort of clump up in the bottom of the bin. They are fed out through the door, and that is good. Our refrigerator is not a cabinet depth so maybe one of those would be different. Oh, ours is white....See MoreHelen
