Not only warming up here, but set to be near record high temps on Sunday. Slated for 81 and the record is 82. All I know is, the leaves are still on the trees, weeks later than typically and seemed to have changed color overnight. Pretty but odd weather. I am in no hurry since this is supposed to be a wetter than usual winter. Ugh. What I wonder most is, will we have so many snow days that my son's high school graduation date gets moved? Why? Because it'd be cool. I graduated, to the day, 25 years after my mother, for the same reason, and because it'd cause the day to be moved. He'd have to be really late though since it's supposed to be mid May and we both graduated in early June. Funny to think about though. One more hour of work (piddly work today) and then off to the grocery store and home for an entire weekend of NOTHING. We have options, but choose it. We've been on the go since mid July and it's fun to take some time for us.

I should go to the grocery store since I'm out of everything but can't seem to find the energy. I will have to go tomorrow because hubs is getting irritated having to stop off for a few things daily than I'm getting irritated at him for getting irritated which is going to end up causing a .....not exactly a fight but more along the lines of go soak your head. He's just not used to me being unwell for so long. First it was pneumonia than the flu than this dang leg which is really dragging me down. Its not that Mike doesn't care but when he can't fix something he feels frustrated and gets grouchy.

Im glad todays Friday i enjoy when the boys are home from school. Kodys comming to visit Amiee this evening and text me to ask if he can bring the boys ice cream ...YES as long as i get some. Haha...he and Amiee are planning a surprise Apples to Apples and a few other games tonight for the boys..they want Mike and I to join in but I may pass.

Dinner tonight will be Beef Stew, crusty bread from the bakery and I'll make baked apples with some butter, brown sugar and cinnamon served hot with a bit of cream.

My day is about over for today. I will fix his oatmeal and soon go up to my room. I have just been doing some kitchen work today. Made cornbread and soup beans. Youngest daughter, Amber and granddaughter, Alyssa left a bit ago with the rest of the beans and a pan of cornbread. Colored a bit also this late afternoon.

I got home from work about an hour ago. I stopped off at Kohl's and ordered my son some cargo shorts for his birthday. I've learned that if you go into Kohl's and order from their kiosk, they will ship it free to your house and you don't have to spend a certain amount. Also stopped at Aldi's and bought some groceries. I am going to make hamburgers tonight and then on Sunday i am going to use the other half of the 2.26lbs of ground beef in some beef and rice soup. It's called Sundowners Soup in a recipe book I have. I'm probably not doing much tonight and I am taking a class tomorrow called Practical Compassion: Making a Difference that Matters. I take other classes through ICT/SOS, which is an "end human trafficking" organization and this class tomorrow is presented by this organization.

Jewels, great tip about Kohls. Today I defrosted my freezer after making and canning spaghetti sauce from the tomatoes I had frozen this past summer. Now I have room for the turkey and other holiday foods.

Marilyn Sue. I think I remember you saying your husband eats oatmeal do to a stroke? Is he able to eat soups or anything run thru a processor?

Mamma Pinky, No, he can not eat anything very thin, so he says. He can not get it in his mouth, will not use a smoothy straw even for that. Won't eat any other kind of cooked cereal, won't eat mashed potatoes with lots of gravy or broth to make it smoother. He will eat puddings, sometimes with small pieces of cake soaked into it. Won't eat any Jello. Will eat candied sweet potatoes with lots of syrup and mashed well. I do put eggs, milk, butter, bananas, cheese and such at different times in his oatmeal just to vary it. I don't even know if he tastes his food. Sometimes ice cream on top of the oatmeal. He does eat applesauce and he gets 4 nutritional drinks a day. Drinks some water and that is it. This has been going on for 3 years now. He has gotten worse since the stroke, because he would not continue his speech therapy. Speech and swallowing are sort of linked together, the muscles that is. So, that is the way it is. His speech is so terrible, most of the time I can not understand him. This was his second big stroke. He can not maneuver stairs very well, so twice a day I carry his meals up to him. He only wants to eat twice a day. We live in a bi level home, my kitchen, dining room and family room are down below. Living room and bedrooms up on the upper level, which is also ground level. I am sure there are many on here that have had to deal with a stroke patient. It also affects the mind.

Marilyn_Sue.......sounds like doing everything right! You can only do what he will allow.

My DH had a narrowed esophagus. He said gravy would get "stuck". At one point I baked "all" our bread and eliminated all spices/salt-pepper & added everything back into his diet. Husbands are a full time job!

It's still early morning here. It's cold. Very cold. Only supposed to go up to +9C today. We have our grandson, he spent the night so his mother and father can get caught up on a few things around their house. I'm just having my second cup of good, dark, hot, black deliciousness coffee before I start anything around here.

Marilyn Sue, you have your hands full and I'm sure your doing a great job. It sure can't be easy. Thank you for sharing your story your a inspiration to me. When I want to complain about my husband not doing this or that I only need remember you and your struggle. My best to you and of course your husband.
