Another drizzly day here. Last night I watched the original "Blade Runner" and I have to say I liked the new movie better. Then I watched "You Before Me", really good movie too. Worked out to several Barre videos on Youtube. I've lost a little over 7 pounds doing these workouts.

Have to work today and the next 2 days, then I have a week of vacation. Going to stay home and clean my house, get a mammogram, maybe take the dogs to get groomed. Emily is shedding like crazy. Usually it's Chewie who has the problem. I tired to brush her last night but couldn't find her brush.

Hope you all have a good day! I hope California gets some rain to help with all those fires.

It's my day off and a lovely sunny low 70s day. I've been in bed for most of the day, just a throbbing headache.

Kathsgarden, great job on the weight loss.

Marilyn_Sue, your soup sounds interesting. I had to google rivels :-)

Rob, have a happy birthday celebration with your son. Eighteen is a magical age for kids, not so much for the parents since it signals that they could fledge at any moment!

It has been misting rain here most all day. I made cream of potato soup with rivels and sent some home with Amber and Alyssa, also sent home half of the small strawberry rhubarb pie I got yesterday at Meijer. They stopped in after school and we had a nice visit. Just some house work done today but not as much done as I would have like to have gotten done. Hope everyone keeps well and safe.

Misting rain here too?! It's supposed to be sunny, but alas no.

Taking my son out for a steak. He's a big ol' adult now. I'm leaving in minutes, and I am ready! Cake with family will be at my mom's on Sunday. Tonight, it's just me and him.

I was wrapping up the outside gardening (inside is seed germination) this weekend and decided to leave the blooming zinnias and morning glory for color as long as I could get it. It looks to be only a couple more days before they're hit with frost. I'm getting really good this being able to tell the seasons just by the sun in the sky thing ;) The last marching band contest I worked was last weekend. I will be a spectator this upcoming weekend, one time. One time in four years of every contest and football game. I never get to see the show from the stands. This year, they'll be cushioned, reserved seats. All up high. Guess I better remember the camera. I spent all of Friday evening and all day Saturday thanking each person individually for all the kindness shown to us as it's not my son's primary school. We came in as strangers to them all (they all know each other because they grew up in the same neighborhoods and attend the same schools/churches), and we're leaving enriched by their friendships. I spent a lot time on the field crying bittersweet tears. One of the friends said why are you crying? I said I am going to miss y'all, all y'all, something fierce. The reply was, you know where to find us. Truly salt of the earth kind of people. I'm ready to be done with public transport though! Two more train rides and six bus rides. On Thursday, I'll have to be up and ready at the bus stop by 5AM?! I don't relish that one. It's the day he'll have to be at band practice from 6:30AM-7PM with a couple of breaks. Is it over yet?!

Mamma Pinky, No, he can not eat anything very thin, so he says. He can not get it in his mouth, will not use a smoothy straw even for that. Won't eat any other kind of cooked cereal, won't eat mashed potatoes with lots of gravy or broth to make it smoother. He will eat puddings, sometimes with small pieces of cake soaked into it. Won't eat any Jello. Will eat candied sweet potatoes with lots of syrup and mashed well. I do put eggs, milk, butter, bananas, cheese and such at different times in his oatmeal just to vary it. I don't even know if he tastes his food. Sometimes ice cream on top of the oatmeal. He does eat applesauce and he gets 4 nutritional drinks a day. Drinks some water and that is it. This has been going on for 3 years now. He has gotten worse since the stroke, because he would not continue his speech therapy. Speech and swallowing are sort of linked together, the muscles that is. So, that is the way it is. His speech is so terrible, most of the time I can not understand him. This was his second big stroke. He can not maneuver stairs very well, so twice a day I carry his meals up to him. He only wants to eat twice a day. We live in a bi level home, my kitchen, dining room and family room are down below. Living room and bedrooms up on the upper level, which is also ground level. I am sure there are many on here that have had to deal with a stroke patient. It also affects the mind. Sue

It's raining again today and expected to rain for the weekend and into Monday. Rain forests do rain very well. Sad news. Still no sign of my cat. Chilli disappeared Monday night and it appears he's gotten in some kind of bad trouble. We're heartbroken as we lost our other cat 2 months ago as well. River was a feral but was coming in and going for walks with us, Chilli and the dogs all the time for 6 months. I'm afraid he got killed by the wildlife here. Chilli never stayed outside at all but he was here then wasn't. No one saw him go. I called and called... I haven't been sleeping.

Another day of sunshine in The Sunshine State. Into the 90s again. Boring. Leaving for a cruise early Monday morning, so the luggage is down (not out, the cat gets wiggy) and I have begun sorting through clothes. This one is different, we begin in cool Vancouver, cruise through the Panama Canal (darned hot thank you) and end up in Ft. Lauderdale. Gotta pack for hot and cool weather.

Jim, I think it's funny that Tony tries to stow away in your luggage. He just wants to go on a cruise too :-)

Hubs was going to make pumpkin pies for the schools PTO tonight but someone at work ask him to change shifts with them so he was off today and made the pies this morning. He made 6 for school and 2 for home. Yum.

I love pumpkin pie which is why i really didnt want two of them here one would be plenty. I could send 7 in to school tomorrow, but I can't find my will power.

I roasted a 9 pound chicken today and had whipped potatoes, gravy, peas and since I had some cranberries I threw them in a small sauce pan with a sliced up orange and a T of sugar and simmered it. Pie for dessert. Tomorrow I will boil the carcass, strain and freeze the broth. Lots of chicken left so that will get frozen also for soup or a casserole.

Now I'm resting and thinking about a shower. I have a large load of microfiber house cleaning cloths in the washer now, sanitize cycle, low spin, Omo detergent from Brazil. LOL

Kath I bet you can't wait for your weeks vacation time. Enjoy it.

I met my property manager @ the rental, tenant is on vacation for a few days. She showed it 4 times in an hour, while I hung out w/ the neighbors. Got caught up on what they were all up to. Everyone who saw the rental liked it, but it won't be available until December 1. So people would need to stay with friends for a month...? Anyway, It's rented. The market is just nuts!

I got piles of FREE flagstone off CL, stepping stone sized, and started putting in a flagstone and pebble path @ the rental. DH took off early and joined me.

Our friends mom is visiting from Maryland, here in her RV. Trying to plan a photo trip to see migrating cranes w/ everyone.
