Is it possible to have wall mount faucet with deck mount side spray?

So I already have the wall mount kitchen faucet fixture and I am plumbed for it. I was planning to order a deck mount side spray but now that I’m shopping it looks like these fixtures are always connected by a hose.... is what I want even possible? HELP! My countertops are being fabricated and I don’t want to screw up something else!

You have presented a 500 pound question that has no single answer so I'll give you three 166.66 pound answers. First,you need a deck mount hole in sink,I don't see one. Secound,if you are talking about a vegetable sprayer,they are available with provisions for plumbing directly into suppy tubes and coming through wall same as facuet. Third,if your plumber doesn't know everything I just told you,you have the wrong plumber. The best set up is a commercial facuet with overhead sprayer like used on pre-rinse table before dishes go into automatic washer in restraunts.

Hi Susan, A boxed pedestal could be very elegant and with hidden hinges you shouldn't have to worry about access. Schluter Systems also has a "hidden panel" hardware set which uses rare metal magnets. As an alternative, you could clad the whole thing with tile instead of wood, for a more durable finish. With the increased dimensions of porcelain tiles, it shouldn't be a problem at all finding a quality porcelain which is available in 24" tall single pieces if you don't like the element of grout joints. Four pieces of tile for the sides and a nicely fabricated architectural piece of stone for the top. For a different twist, how about a floating shelf on the wall and the plumbing worked into that? Such a shelf might allow you an even broader range of fixtures to choose from, which might help your budget a little? I think a shelf like this might need a couple L-brackets in the wall for support but those can be very easily hidden under sheet rock and in the interior of the shelf. Best of luck, Shaughnn

Thickening the wall AS WELL is a good idea. Here in British Columbia, it IS allowed but furring the wall is recommended, and an approved spray foam or foam boards must be placed on the cold side, so the pipes remain exposed to the warm side. If you use foam board, the edges must be sealed against air infiltration with sprayfoam - gaps and cracks stuff - or acoustic (acoustical [sic])sealant, the black gooey stuff. The foam becomes your air/vapour barrier so it needs to be closed-cell, or use an approved open cell with a poly barrier, on the cold side of the pipes if I remember correctly.

Yes, the wall has to be opened up and the pipes moved up to the exact distance needed by the particular brand of faucet that you choose. Then you have to close up the walls, do drywall repair, and attach the finish trim pieces. If you ever have a leak or problem, the wall needs to be opened up to access things as well. Wall mount faucets are best located where an access panel from the other side of the wall can be concealed. The labor will be more than triple what installing a deck mount faucet would be, simply because of the work behind the walls being needed. A deck mount faucet is an easy DIY install, taking 30 minutes at most. You really don't need a plumber for that if your shut off valves are newish. Also, if you are utilizing an existing vanity, it may be too tall for a vessel sink. Vanities that will be short enough for a vessel sink would be in the 30"-32" height, not the 36" height that vanities have become over the last 20 years.

@elizabeth_eclectic Wrestling with the same myself! Trying to decide whether to fork out for the Groff G-9935 independent side spray (the only other option seems to be a Watermark at twice the already high price!), or see if my plumber can improvise a way to hook up the Chicago Faucets spoutless faucet (2303-ABCP) to a sprayer attachment. Or just skip the sprayer and use a sponge on the sink.
