Spray or roller for wall painting with flat paint?
Comments (6)Well, some do it all types are actually not bad painters, but this is very, very rare. Anyway, whether or not you spray or not really doesn't matter. A pro uses the sprayer to get the paint on faster. Whether or not it is sprayed, the actual paint gets rolled no matter what. We call this backrolling, meaning application of the paint with a sprayer, then physically rolling the paint while it is still wet. If you just spray it on and leave it, it's fairly likely that the paint will dry uneven and look crappy. The roller helps to even everything out. The only time I would spray walls or ceilings and not backroll is if there was a heavy texture or popcorn, which would disguise the uneven look you may get on smooth drywall....See Moremab paint vs sw pro high gloss:maybe this is why the roller marks
Comments (9)Is this a professional painter or just somebody that does painting as a side job? I'd be wondering if it isn't the roller. Rollers come in different naps. Using the right roller for the right project makes a whole lotta difference. I'd also take a peek at how the guy is putting the paint on. Is he over rolling it? Meaning is he putting the roller in the tray and then on the ceiling and trying to cover as much as possible when what he should be doing is getting it up and on and not trying to make it cover so much area. It may also simply need a second coat. And I agree with whoever said you should get the two coats of what you asked for. There may not be a whole lot of difference in the two formulas BUT it may be just enough to affect the final outcome. It's why you PAID for the one you asked for....See MorePaint sprayer - Compressor vs. HVLP Turbine System?
Comments (0)I am in process of remodeling basement - painting exposed ceiling in black, taking off 40 year old wall panel and hanging/painting new drywall, etc. I am thinking paint sprayer since I will be painting large areas (basement is 700 sqft). Within my limited budget ($300~), I am debating between 2 options. 1) Buy a decent size air compressor (CFM 6-7 @ 40psi / 20-30 gal. tank) & paint gun. 2) Buy a HVLP turbine sprayer for paint job (thinking Wagner 4000) and get a smaller size pancake air compressor for other jobs (nail gun, air blow, impact, inflating tires etc). For future automotive painting DIY projects, I was leaning towards the larger air compressor option but the guy from Menards told me the paint jobs using air compressor is typically not for painting house exterior/interior. But I think there should be the right air spray guns using the air compressor for the house painting purposes. I did some research but I don't have a clear answer. 1) Any recommendation on spray gun products using air compressor for house projects? 2) Is there any benefit of HVLP turbin sprayer other than portability? How's end result between the 2 options?...See MorePaint Sprayer vs Roller/Brush
Comments (0)My wife and I just closed on our house. At 2600sqft. there is quite a bit of wallpaper to remove and thus, a ton of painting. I was thinking of picking up a paint sprayer to hopefully make this a bit quicker and also give us better results than a roller and brushes. I also figured I could also use the sprayer when it comes time to reseal our cedar siding and deck. Does anyone have any insight and recommendations on paint sprayers? I’ve been looking at Graco and Wagner and there are a ton of different models....See MoreUser
