Creative decorating ideas needed to get me thru until spring
Comments (30)I've been busy with work related stuff but I did get a start on a few projects. I went to Lowe's yesterday and they had a great selection of orchids. I wanted to take them all home but I decided to start small since I have absolutely no idea about the care and feeding of orchids. The instructions suggest a location with limited exposure to sunlight and bumblebeez warned about keeping them away from the fireplace so my orchid will get a home in the powder room. I think it looks great in there but I'm a little nervous about potting it without killing it ( I have a lousy track record with houseplants). I found a pot that i think will work well and I would like to use green moss at the base for additional color. Here is a pic . I also wanted to do something with bare branches. So I filled a white pitcher with branches I gathered from our woods and placed them on our kitchen table. It was so cold outside , I didn't spend a lot of time looking for the best branches to work with but my goal is to use them as filler and add something else to it. It looked a little "barren" at first but I have to admit, the light airy look is starting to grow on me. Here is what I have so far. If any of you have ideas for what could be added to make it interesting let me know. It is pretty much a blank canvas right now. I went to the grocery store and found some cut flowers that might fit nicely but I really didn't know where to begin. I'm not sure what looks good with "sticks" LOL. Thanks in advance for your ideas. We're getting yet another snow storm this week. This has been a fun diversion from all the gray nasty cold weather....See MoreHelp! Creative ideas to fill space between pony wall and ceiling?
Comments (6)I'd like it to be temporary enough to where I can close off the room as I choose when we have guests staying with us. But once they leave I could pull/push/slide it to the side for more space and daylight. So your idea is perfect! I just found soundproof room dividing curtains online. I could install a wire curtain rod the width of the room and just use that. I believe this would be much cheaper/faster than building on to it and leave it as is. you!...See MoreCreative tile/decor ideas needed for wall mounted fireplace
Comments (0)Installing a wall mounted small gas fireplace in our bedroom. The fireplace is 16" wide by 27" tall and arch shaped. It will be raised about 2 ft off the floor so that we can easily see it from bed. It will be built into a niche in the wall that was created for the potential fireplace during construction. The space is 30" wide and very close to a doorway so I need to keep the "design" within the 30". I'm searching for creative ways to use tile/decorate this area and am not finding anything even close to the ideas in my head. What I am thinking is that the space below the fireplace will be left open and I will put in decorate logs. That I found a pic of! I want to tile around the fireplace with maybe red subway tile with some accent tile included. Tile would then run up the sides of the 30" space to the ceiling, framing this area in sort of a chimney effect. We don't want to use the same red tile all the way up as it might seem too WOW for a space you want rest. My idea was to use chair rail and other trim tiles to create a sort of mantel effect right above the fireplace. There can't be an actual mantel due to being so close to a doorway/walking area. The small area between the fireplace and the ceiling I would stencil a design to be determined. Not sure if any of that makes sense but I would like to see other similar ideas and can't find anything. Almost all fireplace surround pics are just traditional floor fireplaces with just the usual tile and wood trim around. Yes there are modern fireplaces but usually those have the same tile going from floor to ceiling. Any ideas are appreciated!...See MoreNeed creative shelf building ideas for tv wall
Comments (3)Call an electrician or audio guy. Get an IR repeater . It will allow the boxes to be ANYWHERE. even the basement or a closet. Or wait for more gambling money, and buy a media cabinet The first suggestion means NO wires showing. https://thehometheaterdiy.com/ir-repeater-kits-explained/...See Moreilovecomputers
