What do you all think about having a little online class?
Comments (64)Hi all,Good Morning! I see that a lot of you haven't received your books yet, is no problem to wait, lets give it the rest of the week for everyones books to arrive. After all the first lesson involves the book LOL. So everyone who signed up, once you all get your books, pop in on this post and let me know when you get your book then hopefully we will start on Friday or Saturday of this coming week. Woodpat, glad to have you join us. This will be a casual and very easy exercise, I am hoping to have lots of thoughts going back and forth between everyone participating in this....See MoreWhat diet gimmicks have you tried?
Comments (12)After making my Weight Watcher's goal some time back, I'm now one month into a new round, having gained it all back. Counting points isn't a gimmick--it's a way for me to be accountable for what I eat. The program works very well--I just went back to what I was doing before, which is the downfall of any weightloss approach. I've come to the conclusion there is no magic bullet. Of course, I knew that in my head, but now I accept it and live by it. Actually, I'm having dinner with Janet (OP) tonight--so we can yak about gimmicks all evening. Sorry, Janet, no margaritas for me tonight--they're 5 points each!...See MoreWhat do you know about the blood-type diet?
Comments (13)I don't believe it based on the blood type. I think as soon as you start avoiding certain foods anyone of any blood type is going to lose weight. I went on a one month milk avoidance diet one time to see if I was allergic to milk. I had to avoid so many of my regular foods that I lost weight. I suspect it's that change in calories from what one normally eats that affects the weight loss. I also think genetics would have an affect. Our genes are both dominant and recessive. We get so many different variations from our ancestors. My parents are A+ and O+ blood types. I am A+ and my husband is B+. My children are B+, O+, and B-. I'll base this off of my children's blood types since I know three generations of blood type for them. None of my children are A+ like I am, but I would think that they had some of my characteristics....See MoreThose of You That Have A Little Time To Pass What Do You Like To Do
Comments (24)I'm busy from 3 a.m. until 9 p.m. Even though I'm retired, my whole day is filled with what I laughingly call "make work programs" which contribute to our healthy food sources (sprouting, growing wheatgrass, micro-greens, fermenting, a WindowFarm and an AeroGarden - for off-season indoor gardening), and I spend time researching food and food science on-line and working on lesson plans for classes I teach at different venues (Food Bank, Extension Office, Senior Center, 4-H Clubs, Women's Shelter). I make time each day to knit or crochet and for reading. I participate in two message boards on-line, and that's enough for me. I do bulk food preparation - cook once for many meals - so meals don't take much time to prepare, and our home food storage takes some time each day to make sure I track rotation, use, and inventory. I like to try three new recipes each week and like to try new foods and ingredients. The great outdoors takes a big chunk of time during garden season. At least an hour of exercise 5 mornings a week from 4-5 a.m. - in our basement and/or outdoors. I've finally cut back on my volunteering so I can spend more time at home doing things I enjoy. jemdandy - My last PC was a reconditioned business model and I got it inexpensively through hubby works. NO GAMES!!!! If I want to play solitaire I have to find a deck of cards now..... No more time-sucking "free cell" (LOL), but I did love it so........See More- 8 years ago
