I show my guests the pocket door that creates a private suite for them, closing the hall to their bedroom and bathroom. No one has ever used it. I guess they don't mind if someone happens to be in the other part of the hall when they are taking the 4 steps from their bedroom into their bathroom. I thought it was the best idea ever but I'm the only one impressed with it. Some day I might switch bedrooms just so I can shut that door and justify its installation.

I'm guessing you live somewhere there are no insects. I would never consider an open air house because: mosquitoes, flies, wasps, bees, cicadas, etc. We stayed in a beach condo once that included the "disappearing doors". They were WONDERFUL, but they opened onto a screened porch. I don't think I'd like them at all if the open space were to open into the great outdoors. Also, I wouldn't like to open these doors and let all my air conditioning out ... and then have to wait a couple hours /pay for the air conditioning to "catch up" and cool the whole house again.

Got a bid from Marvin doors $17k (Wood) and Panoramic Doors (Vinyl) $10k for a 10’ by 8’ door. Panoramic doors have 10 year warranty and customer service so far has been amazing! Seeing the Marvin door in person I was extremely unimpressed especially for the price. I like the fact that it was explained that Panoramic doors carry the weight at the bottom not the top. I was originally concerned about overall structure with such a large door. I’m finding it hard to reach anyone at Nana wall and getting a quote online is a pain.
