And so it begins...wedding guest dress
Comments (150)Just checking back in here. You've been busy. I love the RL dress on you too. I suspect the other is also really flattering, but that the overexposure of the lighting on the pic and maybe the pic angle makes it not as enticing as the RL. Either one would be perfect. Are you in the mood for silvery/pewter shoes? I just bought these at Dillards (amazing selection I'll add) to wear this weekend as stepmom of Bride. They are comfy enough for me to wear and still act as hostess at this wedding. By J Renee and pretty affordable. I'm a lot taller than you, but have the same figure issues, ie shapely ample tush and bustline. For this "black tie optional" wedding all the bridesmaids will be in long dresses as will I. I ended up buying a dress in the salon the day we went wedding dress shopping, at Sweet Elegance in Atlanta where they were absolutely wonderful. And I went with a mock wrap - silver, beaded. Still haven't decided on jewelry. sigh. Wedding is in three days. (why do they picture a 20-something in a dress meant for MOB?) I made my dresses for my two sons weddings, but making it this time was going to be a logistical nightmare. Have a wonderful time at your barn wedding....See MoreWedding in our future?
Comments (48)DH and I must be more trusting than most. I understand it can be a lot of work and a big headache, but neither of us are particularly concerned about the people. It's not like we've never met them and someone just walked in off the street....and I know that all families have their share of "problem children", but that's not a major concern for us. Maybe it should be, but it isn't. I'm thinking the larger issue is if this will provide the bride with the best wedding option for her, and I don't think it will. Our patio is nice, but our outside is really set up as "pods" of individual space....the deck above, the patio below, one field on one side of the house, the other field on the other side of the house and the wetlands and pond down below. It's not set up with a lot of continuity or flow between space to make for easy entertaining. This is especially troublesome if it rains where we won't be able to get people to and from the house and/or tent to the pots or the food or anything else easily. And it's an issue if anyone like gram or gramps has any mobility issues. I think I will talk to FOB again tonight .......See MoreHelp me add house building related items to our wedding registry!
Comments (23)*looks around library that's currently functioning as a tool chest for ideas* For your own sanity: gift cards for home improvement stores. There is always a billion little things you need. gift cards for the liquor commission - for when you can't deal with the billionth problem that goes wrong massage gift certificates - for when painting makes your shoulders and neck ache, but your STILL not done painting... movie tickets - for when your exhausted AND broke, and just want a night out. For doing work yourselves: Painters tape. Don't ask how much of the stuff you'll go through! Brad nails for the nailgun when installing trim. Again, its amazing how many thousand you go through! rags. For staining, cleaning paint of surfaces it shouldn't have gone, dirty hands... tape measures...because even if you have 6, you'll only ever find 1 at a time a GOOD stud finder spackle for when you accidentally knock something over dent your newly painted walls, and new knives for when your SO washes them and leaves them in the sink to rust... respirator with replacement cartridges - so that you aren't dying with a major headache and sore throat after staining all of your doors/trim... long screws to match your door hardware. (We found these hard to find in certain colors). It sucks when your builder drops them, and replaces the missing ORB one with a shiny brass one... undercutting saw (if installing flooring), or one of those multi-tools with the undercutting blade. plastic-type prybars - for when you install something wrong and need to 'delicately' redo it... Other 'things' you may not have thought of including in your home, or want to upgrade: whole home surge protector fancier doorbell exterior lighting outdoor bench/seating BBQ! yardwork tools - rakes, shovels, lawnmower accessories, garbage cans, recycling bins tool chest and/or pegboard and hook set for the massive amount of tools you've bought! decorative air/floor registers...See MoreMy turn: wedding guest dress
Comments (46)I'm leaning toward the navy one as well. I think it'll work better for October...probably the print if it were a spring wedding. I think the navy is easier to accessorize as well... Yeah, joanie, I'm fast, but not that fast! :) Especially since I retired...I've gotten a lot more, shall we say, relaxed, about doing things. When I first left work, I was still pedal to the metal on everything we did. Right now I'm savoring the pleasure of putting together the album from our vacation. I ended up taking nearly 1,000 pics for just a week!...See MoreYayagal
